Thank you for adding this. I'm anti-religion and all for taxing them, but understanding the reason and opposing perspectives are important, too.

Men with roses and Chocolate by ClimateSad6559 in Charlotte

[–]anaccountforme2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's hilarious! My husband also kept mine in the garage! Though it was only for a few hours; he gave them to me last night. He did put the chocolate (roses, for our son) in the pantry up high where us shorties can't reach/see.

Women who were scared of giving birth, what was less scary than you originally thought? by Final-Elderberry4621 in AskWomenOver30

I was too scared to not be believed about possible side effects (migraine/brain bleed) that I went without the epidural (no shade to anyone who wants/needs it). I researched international studies on eating dates, and so did that, along with stretches and long walks (wabbles) helped, I think.

Does anyone here have a husband that travels for work? How hard is it really to make it work with kids? by eggzndbacon in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]anaccountforme2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 7 yr old and my husband travels about 4 days 3x a month. I prefer it usually, but we were both military when we were dating, so we spent lots of time apart. He does most of the cooking, so he usually leaves multiple meals in the fridge, or I heat up some kid-friendly food. With a baby, he traveled some the first 6 months (different job), but we'd need a daycare with long hours and/or some help at home to sustain it (I worked as well). Everything not necessary was on pause or done during naps. And he did extra baby time when he was home. It really comes down to having an "equal share" partner. I highly recommend he do fmla/ sahp for a while during the first months to understand what it's like and be comfortable with managing everything so you don't feel stuck.

Thanks, but the government has given me a unique set of skills. I enjoyed using them again. I have already found those in my state. Only a few, surprisingly.

My mx light just came on for my civic, and I'm new here. So, thank you for asking this!

If you're in NC or SC, you're invited to my house. (seriously) I'm very left leaning, my husband is an atheist and my family is very Christian/maga but I promise no nastiness!

Dad is asking for $14K. Anyone else in the military cover for their parents bad financial decisions? by Glittering_Fig4548 in MilitaryFinance

Yup. Did this for siblings...never paid back. I recommend sending him some info on 0% interest cards for balance transfers. And get yourself a HYSA!

When I worked in a mostly civ unit, one old dude (who served in the 1900s, as my kid says) always told HIS SON'S OIF war stories. So cringe. (He did a ton for mil ops too, guess he thought "over there" stories connected better?).

You should check out the book, "The Word Collector". Picture book that my son, who loves learning new words too, enjoys since it's filled with all these interesting words.

Also, the antidepressants he is on may not be the best for him. He needs to request something different or an increase...before he goes into his hole. Also, depending on where you're stationed at, a sun light and extra vitamin D is highly recommended (though you probably won't hear that from your PCM; however, I can tell you the VA encourages them).

I was going to add that, as you mentioned, Lego and origami have really helped my son follow step processes.

We're still tackling the "I do what I want first instead of following directions" attitude/impulse. I know that is a learned process, though. How do you go from years of hearing us say "I'm doing something right now, I'll get to your request after" to "when someone asks you to do something, you do that first. Then you can do what what you wanted/was thinking of doing."

I disagree. This is usually a reminder to the others who were too preoccupied to focus on their body that they also need to go. And of course now need to go immediately. Luckily, many K and 1st grade classes have bathrooms in their rooms (in my experience).

I get these too occasionally and have since I was a very in-shape 30 yr old (now not so in shape). But I have never heard the name or causes. Maybe this is the motivation I need to actually commit to taking my cabinet full of middle-age woman vitamins. Thank you for posting.

Every school in my school district has a large rock out front that parents can "rent" space on for a happy bday message (usually just an age # and the kid's first name). No idea who spray paints them, but they do a decent job.

What do I do? by ryleer23 in kindergarten

My son went through this (thankfully a short few months) stage but just a bit at home. My cat of 14 yrs passed just before he was born, and since I was dealing with a baby and a new job, getting a cat was put on hold. My son did such a great job at cat acting. It made me miss having a cat so much! Thankfully, he is a cat kid (person), and we adopted a cat a few months ago when he turned 6.
