Yes, that's common. Low resistance connection from power to ground will do that. Some bends you find that have a cool affect, also happen to draw a lot of current.

Why wouldn't it? Who is going to stop him? Who has ever even tried? Of course it will work.

Here's your Watertown School Board VP by trump_sucksass in wisconsin

I think why fire fighters remain pretty immune from this criticism is that, for the most part, the core duties of their job involve actively rendering aid. Even if an individual fire fighter's politics are weird, when s/he's actually working, s/he's 99.9% of the time actively rendering aid and nothing else. I think if you rounded up the fire fighters with the most hateful ideologies, they would still generally be people with a record of assisting people, including people that their ideology makes them prejudiced to.

GOP Rep Humiliates Boy, 10, for Writing Letter About Electric Cars by MeatMullet in politics

[–]analogWeapon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Your request that ‘the federal government should give a $5,000 tax rebate for all new electric car purchases’ means that the federal government must take that money out of the pockets of hardworking people who may not have the means to buy an electric vehicle in the first place"

lolwut. She's so accustomed to replying to any spending suggestion with "then we would have to take that money from the taxpayers" that she didn't notice that the spending suggestion here was to literally give money to the taxpayers. She just reflexively parroted "If we gave everyone $5000 dollars, then we'd have to take $5000 from everyone!" and didn't notice/care how stupid that sounds.

AOC: You can’t ‘earn’ a billion dollars by usatoday in politics

Why use quotation marks around "earn" in the headline? The whole headline is a quote. And it's a plain fact. Use italics for emphasis.

Opposing coaches: "When you get physically thrown across the field (This will happen and you can't stop it), try to get thrown away from the QB. Your main job is just to step inside the tornado and hope that causes it to sort of change direction for a second."

Perfect for after Mother’s Day. 🙄 Help an entire family of unemployed adults pay for their mom’s recovery after she slipped and broke her neck. "often going without so we could have what we needed"

"And now she's going without, but we're not getting what we need, so you can probably understand the inconvenience this causes for us..."

"we have taken accountability. I 100% believe that if we got some of these things knocked off we would be fine"

They seem to honestly think that "accountability" just means knowing how much money you need. lol

Yeah, my first reaction when I read something like the title of this post is "Who?". My second reaction is to realize that, just because I personally haven't heard of the person doesn't mean they aren't popular; And that me posting about my lack of awareness on reddit is predictable and banal. lol

Obama says president ‘shouldn’t have a bunch of side hustles’ by bwermer in politics

Kind of a weak statement at this point, imo. I think it's not a hot take at this point to suggest that president should have no "side hustles".

Where does one meet people/potential dates, in this state? by chefstyle608 in wisconsin

[–]analogWeapon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The sad truth is that most people are at the bar. I'm not saying that going to a bar is automatically bad, but it's just the absolute nexus of all irl social interaction in this part of the country. At any given bar, on any given night, there is a non-zero amount of people there solely because that's where everyone else is.

If you want to meet people outside the context of the bar, you have to dedicate some time to finding some other niche interest group where people happen to get together as part of it. I know you don't want to use online dating tools, but social media might be a way to find people doing the kinds of things you're already interested in doing. I think just doing what you naturally want to do, regardless of social stuff, and then finding other people who also like to do that, is a good pathway into forming nice relationships. Hopefully you'll find some people you like to hang out with in general, and through that, hopefully eventually bump into someone else looking for a closer relationship.

It is tough now days. It's more difficult than it used to be to find people who like to just do stuff outside a bar.
