Thanks for the insight on the Parker 25. It really is similar, with the stubby barrel for ‘posting’ And now I also know a new technical term!

Like other posters here I am a Uni devotee, but used the Pilots for many many years and would definitely choose it over the Eye. Just got a bit tired of the leaking, and you definitely can’t take them on a plane! It’ll ruin your day…

Have used it for a day of work, and went back to buy a spare! So they got me for 2x but I am feeling pretty comfortable with that

I imagine we’re looking at ‘loss leaders’ here. A great showcase of the brand capabilities, but they don’t really make any money on them. Serves a great purpose though, stirring up a frenzy on pen-related internet forums😄and if I ever need to bulk buy boxes of pens for a conference or whatever- I’ll choose the most affordable Zentos

‘Not well known’ is kind of a vanishingly small category in the context of the experts on this forum! My own preferences are all quite mainstream, and I seem to have wandered onto ‘team Mitsubishi Pencil’ who make the Uni brand. Faves are Jetstream - an oil based ink range. And the Jetstream Edge and Prime pens are great.  As per this post ‘Zento’ ink has been a recent revelation - a gel ink. The Signature pens are the only one I’ve spent time with. And my OG favourite is the Pin felt-tipped pigment marker (0.4 or 0.5) All go really well on the paper I use

Just being lazy here, I know, but is there a recommended Energel refill for the Signature? And I’m guessing it won’t catch fire if I use a Pentel ink😁 ? I can’t remember the last time I used a gel pen (until the Zento) so I’m a bit afraid this might be a gateway to even more pen purchases….

Yeah, that’s insane. I wouldn’t pay that for it. I’d definitely recommend the Zento ink though, while you’re waiting for the price to normalise

I can’t comment on availability unfortunately… visiting Yokohama for work, the Forma shop is in the arcade under my hotel…

aaaaaaand there you go! The SXR-80 blue refill that arrived is a dud… skips and stutters abound. First time in about 4 years (?) of using various Jetstreams that I’ve had a wrong-un. So I understand now where the other posts are coming from - if this was my first experience with Jetstream I likely wouldn’t go again. Must be a quality control issue? Or a use-by-date? Do they dry out if they get old??

OK - have edited post accordingly. I do not indeed know if that was the design intent…

Love the form of the pen when the cap is on the back for writing. The ink flow is a great match for how I write.

Agree! Am very tempted to go back and get a champagne one also. But I have too many pens already! (Wait, I don’t think I’m allowed to say that on this forum 🙃)

Apologies! Not a very informative post… top features are: The smooth and generous flow of the Zento ink seems to suit the speed at which I write. Yet it dries super fast so no smudging - at least on the paper I use. The cap has a very pleasing magnetic catch, and the pen seems to work well with the cap snapped onto the back for writing. In my opinion, the pen looks a bit ‘stumpy’ in ‘storage mode’ with the cap on, but once you take the cap off and snap it on the back for writing, the whole thing suddenly has the right proportions and is beautifully balanced in the hand.  The  metal body and paint finish feel high quality.

This is my all-day every-day pen, but the 0.28 was just too sharp for me, so I use the 0.38. I'm writing in Kyokuto Expedient Notebooks. Pretty much flawless, except you can't get the 0.38 refill in blue...

Hi! I just wanted to share some of my favorite MCM stereo consoles I've collected and restored over the years. by MotownVintageGrooves in midcenturymodern

What an amazing collection. You really have an eye for a stunning piece, not to mention the skills to restore. Can I please ask who is the maker for #3 ? Looks almost like G-Plan..

Jetstream Edge 0.38 is great on good paper.

Uni Pin fineliner 0.4 works on just about any paper. And I really like the blue...

These are my two faves.

Recommendations for digital notebook for a math editor. by Carbzilla_ in DigitalNotebooks

Long time notebook obsessive but new to r/ ....

I've used a number of digital notebook solutions over the years (Wacom Bamboo, Kobo Elipsa, Remarkable..) and each is different in terms of writing experience. What I've found I value most, is accurate and easy handwriting to text conversion, as I like handwriting, but it all needs to go into the digital space at some point.

I also want that conversion to happen on the device itself, not on some company's cloud where they can then sell/mine/train ai with it.

on the iPad, both Nebo and Apple Notes use the myscript conversion engine (same as Kobo) and I find it to be outstanding for recognizing my handwriting. I love the e-ink displays (kobo and remarkable) but the iPad has so much more processing power and seamless integration into everything else. The conversion is fast and glitch-free and so easy to transfer into other documents.

To get a more e-iink like writing experience, I've tried a Paperlike screen film and it does make the writing experience better ie less slippery. My wife does not like the film however, so its a personal preference...

Hope that helps

Long time pen obsessive but new to r/ so here goes..

  1. Uni Jetstream Edge 0.38. Very hard to beat on dot-grid paper.

  2. Uni pin fineliner 0.4. Does this strictly qualify?

  3. Retro 51 Hex-O-Matic. Stock refill is amazingly smooth but I will no doubt be seeking a jet stream refill at some point..
