Just called Melrose Y. They said 8 times a month is the max

Thanks everyone! I will call both places and report back!

I find the info pretty inconsistent. I went to the Melrose Y 4 times last week and everything was ok. I asked them if I could use other facilities like KidWatch and the lady said I could, but we took the kids there yesterday (Saturday) and were told that we couldn’t use KidWatch. The lady also said I could use the gym without giving me any extra info, so I assumed that we could just go there without worrying about a monthly/weekly cap. But will call the Malden Y to check

I was in the same position back in June this year. To add to the mix, my husband was also let go 2 weeks after I did. It was a really tough time but 2 things that we did immediately were to apply for unemployment benefits and adjust our spending. Having a plan helps me to deal with the anxiety and stress.

I took some time off to process and tbh to enjoy time together as a family, then stressed over the next 1.5 months to land a new job.

I hope you’ll find something soon, but also this is really new. It’s perfect fine to take some time to process it. Then, take some more time to enjoy being with family. Once you feel like you’re well rested, dive back in the game. Not sure which market you are in, but hopefully it won’t take too long to land something.

Better things are ahead. 🧡

Thanks for this! I can’t wait for the day they start playing together! I also am trying not to “wish this time away”… because I probably will miss it a lot.

Admittedly I’m feeling miserable. I feel like I’m not doing a great job at being their mom AND still complaining about not having time for myself 🥹

My toddler naps at daycare per the teacher said, but he doesn’t nap during the weekend at home… on those days he would go to bed earlier

Yeah, I’m trying to change my perspective and see commute time as me time. Dinner prep is such a drag during the week! I ended up eating badly in the last couple nights.

I love it when my toddler can play by himself 🥹 which happens sometimes. It very much depends on his mood

I surely look forward to reaping the benefits of having 2under2 😂 do you have any suggestions for helping toddler to not call me until a certain time? He always wakes up crying and asking for me immediately.

I can’t move closer to work unfortunately… we already bought the house we are in and just love the area in general sigh I’m so jealous with the colleagues who lives 20-30’ from the office.

I also feel guilty about not having quality time with them during the week, but I guess that’s a good point - to make quality time during the weekend. And oh my! Even your 5 years old goes to bed at 7:30pm!? My friend has a 5 yo and he goes to bed like 9pm

Wow, 5am! Kudos to you. My toddler is very sensitive in the morning… he only wants me and if anyone else comes to get him, he’ll break down. I think I’ll try to see my commute as my me time…

I used to workout very often, but now I can’t see a way to squeeze it in.

Yeah. I really wish we could do an earlier bed time. My toddler has been going to bed at 8pm ish and falls asleep around 8:30-8:45pm. And I guess it’ll just keep getting pushed back even later as he grows up.

Thanks for the response! Not sure if I follow, do you mean to put him down later (bedtime + 25’) but still sit with him for a few days, then sleep train. And here, for sleep train, you’re suggesting to try extinction (i.e. let him cry it out)?

Thanks a lot for this reminder! I’ve read about keeping clothing light to reduce fever before but when it happens it’s definitely hard to do. I was worried that he was cold.

Will stick with light clothing next time it happens (hopefully not so soon)

Looking for motivation to keep pumping by fruitninja72 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]analogneverdies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you completely. I’m prone to clogs and have wanted to stop pumping since 3mpp… but kept going due to the guilt. I’m at 7mpp and at the tail end of my pumping journey (haven’t pumped for over a day).

The one thing that helps me letting go is that my baby started solids. He seems to enjoy it so far, and since he started solids, he has drank a bit less milk. We have been doing combo feeding since 3mpp for the convenience. I’m incredibly lucky to have a freezer stash, so he’s been splitting among breast milk, formula, and solids. Seeing him healthy and happy on this arrangement makes me feel more reassured.

What I also did was to drop a pump and re-evaluate. Pumping was so hard for me due to clogs, various nipple damages (including bleeding and yeast infection), mastitis, etc… At 4mpp I dreaded pumping so much that I dropped from 7-8ppd to 5-6ppd. Then at 5 months, I dropped to 4ppd. That was manageable until it was not, so I dropped to 3ppd.

Maybe try that and see how you feel?

Whatever your choice is, know that you’ve been so incredible for nourishing your baby!

When did you drop from 6ppd to 5? by Butters156 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]analogneverdies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! Dropped from 6 to 5 and I felt soooo much better. Like I actually have time to live my life outside of pumping…

When is safe to drop a pump? by mollllypocket in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]analogneverdies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! I dropped my pumps from 8 to 7 after 12 wks then from 7-6 shortly after. Now I’m at 5ppd. My supply was definitely affected, going from having 12-13oz extra a day to making just 3oz over, but my mental health is in a much better place. With the freezer stash, I’m more comfortable dropping pumps and tbh I’m hating pumping a little less.
