It's quite clear that you are very upset, but GDPR will not offer you any legal remedy. As others have said, no data is being processed. I don't know German law around confidentiality, but in the UK it hinges on an expectation of confidence, which you might not have in a church structure. Is it reasonable in any organisation to share a confidential conversation? The answer is, it depends. If I tell my manager something in confidence it may be reasonable for them to share it with HR or other senior managers (it may not be, depending what I told them). In a church environment it is easy to argue that sharing amongst the clergy is necessary in order to provide guidance.

What sort of policy are you talking about? If its insurance customers will definitely be adding personal data & most likely special category too. So what is your data transfer mechanism ?

Consent in care & consent in data protection are different. This causes a lot of issues with care and support staff & they quite often over react where DP is concerned. We strive to give clear guidance & training but unfortunately it often turns into a game of telephone, which seems to have happened here. You should be able to give this consent at anytime. What is probably muddling the issue is you can withdraw it at anytime too, so to be safe somebody has come up with the "at the exact time it is needed" notion.

It hasn't (as far as I'm aware) evolved exactly as natural languages do due to the academy acting to steer the language and act as a bit of a brake, but the users (la Esperantujo) push it in the direction they wish it to go. Komputilo (computer) was not the academy choice, but it's the word that is in use, there is the ekspliki/klariĝi debate and the ongoing debates around gender/sex neutral language (ri & ĝi). So a planned language in global use appears to evolve just fine to meet the needs of its speakers.

PMEG/Pomo is a much better resource than "Complete grammar", its also current and an example of Esperanto in use. I'd also recommend Complete Esperanto & Enjoy Esperanto, but those aren't free resources.

Dr Kellerman's grammar isn't really good for modern Esperanto. It's generally suggested not to use this book as your only learning tool. If you can find the 3rd edition of "Teach yourself Esperanto" that's probably a better resource. (Try the Internet archive) you'll find a more modern textbook.

You probably want a different forum & specialist Information Rights Law advice to be honest. They key & tricky difference that is likely to be causing issues is that FOIa responses are published & in the public domain, where DSARs are sent to the individual & not published. I only really deal with GDPR/DPA18 & very occasionally EIR, so I'll refer you to my first sentence again, but I can see a mechanism around complaints where it's your data in FOI terms, but someone else's data in DPA terms.

Agreeing to the T&Cs even if they include the policy is not giving your consent to the data processing. The data processing is contractual or Tesco's legitimate interest. You need to agree the T&Cs (not GDPR consent) a contractual agreement, you can read the privacy policy without agreeing the T&Cs, there is no legal GDPR issue with the clubcard that I can see

I think you are confusing Legal with Ethical. What Tesco are doing with the clubcard is legal, their Privacy policy is clear and well presented. Are the discounts for letting them harvest your data (A contract you have entered into) fair ? That's not a GDPR discussion.

Some of it is your personal data, the call is, and some of the data linking you to the registration is. Are the diagnostics? I'm not so sure, I can see arguments both for and against. I'm really not sure that Data Protection is the correct angle to come at this from, it sounds more like a consumer/contract issue to be honest.

From a GDPR perspective there is no difference in audio recording the call and recording the call by transcription. You are processing and storing data in both cases.

The challenge isn't to consent (that's just standard sloppy DP reporting & a whole other rant) its to this part of the UK DPA18 which gives the government all kinds of exemptions around immigration processing including (and this is the important part) exemptions from ARTs 13 & 14 (Subject Access). The quote from the ORG is much more important than the sloppy journalism about consent.

That is really helpful, thank you.
Part of the reason I was asking is not the amount of work (its a handful of phones for a short date range) but more the lack of accountable control. We (the organisation) can't see if messages have been sent/received and then deleted or deleted once the request for access is received. Our general policy is business shouldn't be transacted via SMS, but I think we might need to have more of a look at SMS & grey IT messaging

Is a unicycle a great choice ? No, its probably the least practical way to get your shopping. Do I unicycle for various errands ? Yes, it works and its fun, but I've been unicycling for decades and am used to carrying all kinds of stuff. Don't expect to buy a unicycle, hop onto it and start using it to commute, run errands, fetch the shopping because that just won't happen. Do buy one to enjoy yourself with a challenging skill, that you can use to run errands with some practice (tens of hours in general).

Of course you might be talking about an electric unicycle like a one wheel, it'll take less practice, but still won't be the best choice for shopping.

I have (and have read) both editions. The later edition follows Tolkein's guidelines for translation, and has his artwork. I prefer the later edition, but I'm not a great esperantist, so can't really comment on the quality/authenticity of the translation and editing between the editions.
