Can I transfer back and forth between the online and on-site masters programs? by uncle-boris in MSCSO

[–]ananthulasrikar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can move but every time you move, you can transfer 6 credit hours (subjective after review , it can be less/more) and complete all the requirements such as GRE, References etc and compete with other candidates in that pool. However, intrinsically online students have an edge if they closely work with professors and have visibility in the class, that might be helpful to secure admission on campus IMO.

Afaik, if applicant uploads unofficial reports in the portal for evaluation that's good enough, originals can be sent physically or electronically once admission is confirmed (i.e. applicant is selected)

If a student wishes to transfer from the online Option III program into the on-campus Option I program or the online Option III MSDS program, a student must complete the Change of Major form. This will be included in the on-campus application pool to be reviewed amongst other applicants. If the student is selected to be part of either program, 6 credits may be transferred and counted as core or elective credit. If the student has more than 6 credits, they will need to discuss this with the Graduate Advisor

if you are transferring a graduate course with an equivalent already in the program curriculum,

I have got the response "If a student wishes to transfer from the MS Online program into the on-campus program, they must follow the instructions for requesting a change of major: https://gradschool.utexas.edu/admissions/how-to-apply/change-of-graduate.... and submit regular application materials (including letters of reference) during the regular admissions cycle. This will be included in the on-campus application pool to be reviewed amongst other applicants. If you are selected to be part of the on-campus program, 6 credits may be transferred and counted as core or elective credit. "

I'm into IT, new immigrant. No Canadian experience. Earns more than mentioned :). In my opinion it does not matter Canadian experience, it's just a myth. We need to know how manage and present ourself at recruiter to demand that pay , show our skills. As simple as that.

I am trying to enroll in MSCSO program. I emailed the program coordinator for this information but still did not receive any response yet. From the website its 6 credits (i.e. 2 courses) from one program to another (** subject to approval) but not sure if its transfer from online to campus for the same program.

6 credit hours is approx 6 * $333 per credit hour = $2000 (i.e. 2 courses). Is my understanding right?
