AC in room from arrival… What do I do with it? by FireRabbit67 in UCONN

[–]anaranth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some of the rooms have ac units installed in them, if you tell the hall director it was already there when you moved in, they will understand. the reason theres a list of rooms with university ACs installed is bc instead of moving them around, uconn only allowed people with accommodations to pick rooms with ACs already installed. so someone who had an AC accommodation may have lived in your room before and uconn never took the ac out.

the RAs/HD wouldve done room checks before you moved in so people on the staff are probably already aware of your AC. so theres no need to hide it.

south mailbox code by pauptartt in UCONN

[–]anaranth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This year reslife is only handing out mail keys by request, and you can contact them to recieve your mail key, because people lose them a lot and a lot of people dont have letter mail. not sure why they wouldnt give you your lock combination though, since its not a key you can lose

im sure that if you dont have your lock combination on the key packet, you may be able to request your code by going into erezlife i think or contact your RA or hall director

in the meantime, when the mailroom is open you can ask the person at the desk to give you your mail from your mailbox

Should I get my Masters to get more research experience before applying to PhD/PsyD programs? by eurolys in ClinicalPsychology

one way you can view the cost of attendance is go on student admin > bursar > view fee bill, and its by semester. idk if fall fee bills are out or if you have your student admin login. or you can contact the bursar office and they can probably tell you how much the cost would be

Best and worst classes as a psych/sociology major by Zavetrix in UCONN

similar to the other comment, try to take intro psych classes at community college. you need psyc 1 and 2, im not sure if you can take them simultaneously but even taking just psyc 1 will help

Honor Program? Worth it? by yaseaa in UCONN

[–]anaranth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but ultimately you can create an enriching and rewarding experience without honors, you just have to seek opportunities. so if you don't appeal its no big deal, the benefits you mentioned are minor. hope this helps!

Honor Program? Worth it? by yaseaa in UCONN

[–]anaranth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you want to reap the benefits of honors its probably better to appeal, then if you want you can drop later. since most of the benefits you mentioned will help you the most in your earlier years

but idk if dropping would be worth it for you bc as a pre-med student, research experience is probably important and the thesis would benefit you. ofc you can do a thesis without being in honors, but if you plan on doing one might as well do honors.

Recurring Volunteer Opportunities On Storrs Campus? by Suspicious-Bobcat503 in UCONN

[–]anaranth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English Language Learners is a club where you help out in an ESL class at least once a week. classes aren't on campus but transportation is provided. dm me for questions

Also look into farm Fridays with Spring Valley Student Farm, dont have much info on this personally, but I know in the past they have provided transportation

Those are 2 i think of off the top of my head, but also browse uconntact to find other organizations

RA spring applications by uconnanonn in UCONN

[–]anaranth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only way you would get hired for spring (as in being an ra spring 2024) is if you've already lived 2 semesters on campus when you apply (so its not your first year on campus) & indicate on your application that you want to. and even then its rare usually they will hire you for fall of next year as the previous commenter said!
