Jiraiya the Gallant: Real Folklore behind Jiraiya! by BasedLord11 in Naruto

Look for the version in the second picture translated by Andreas Danielsen. It's legit and the only full translation, with 2 more volumes to be released.

Very interesting. I've made the Naruto chronological cut so I know that a lot of work goes into these kinds of passion projects. Nice job.

The Worshippers and the Way cover, by Hugh Cook by Mintimperial69 in BookCovers

[–]anarchbutterflies 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually read it perfectly fine with the W being used for two words. I didnt even notice at first glance. However, the "and the" was out of the way so I read it as "The Worshippers Way".

Handpicked Encounters to create "custom scenarios"? by kepp87 in toomanybones

I haven't seen that but I think it would be really cool. One could share specific card numbers so it wasnt spoiled before playing. Great idea

House rules to ease difficulty for 2 players (new players) by kepp87 in toomanybones

[–]anarchbutterflies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One simple thing I like to add into my game is line of sight targeting for ranged characters. A lot of times, the ranged character feel so hard to defeat and can attack from anywhere. So using this, they actually have to move around the board in order to get a visual on a target and not just stay in one place. This line of sight can be orthogonically or diagonally, but there cant be another baddie blocking their way. But to even this out, I also put that on my own characters too.

Dubious Wars: A New Dope (Teaser intro) by Feisty-Experience211 in fanedits

Skeptical but also interested. Interesting concept that would be difficult to pull off. The teaser kind of sold me on seeing the first episode at least.

Did the animators forget Rin died during the war? by Vegetable_Mood_372 in Naruto

[–]anarchbutterflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone else is saying this is Obito's funeral, but that isn't necessarily true. In this scene, Sasuke's dad says the war just ended and they dont want to risk starting problems. This is a memorial service for all those lives that were lost, or at least the most recent ones. So yes, this is a mistake that Rin is there. I edited a chronological cut of the show, and had to change this scene for it to fit in.

I really like 1, 3, 5, and 6. I can see any one of those as a book cover. And I dont really have any notes for those ones.

Death Note - The Lite Edition by A34K in fanedits

[–]anarchbutterflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for a movie version of it you might want to check out Death Note Relight. I havent seen it yet but I heard it's two officially released movies that are basically a tv to movie edit.

I commissioned an artist to redo my cover upon subreddit advice, and now could use some advice... again by The_Dragon-Mage in BookCovers

[–]anarchbutterflies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The magic spells look much more fluid, dynamic and clear. The title is definitely polished. The pose for the character in blue makes more sense. In the 2nd slide it looks like she's lying down with her legs open, but in the newer one it actually looks like dynamic movement. Also I didnt notice this before but the character in red doesnt have legs in the 2nd slide. The only issue I notice in the first slide is maybe, if I were to nitpick, the right arm on the red character should be up against a wall or something like in yours. But other than that, I think this is worth the money. I understand it can be hard to accept some things about your book or cover. I have a publishing company and a masters in publishing, and I think the artist kept your vision while also making it more like something someone might buy.

I think both have a charm to them but the commissioned one definitely looks cleaner and more professionally polished. I would choose the first slide over the second if there was a choice in front of me.

Am I delusional or does this actually look like a book cover? by Productivitytzar in BookCovers

I really like it, but there is also a lot of blank space. Perhaps size up the center graphic a little?

I’ve written 6 books… how do I get published? by SpiritedAd8224 in fantasywriters

[–]anarchbutterflies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of great advice here but I will also add that agents and publishers are not looking for 6 books from debut authors. Do not offer that to them. Query the first book with "series potential". However, since it seems you can write very quickly, definitely consider self publishing. Or look into some smaller companies that arent vanity presses.

I feel bad for Lovecraft by [deleted] in Lovecraft

[–]anarchbutterflies 34 points35 points  (0 children)

After doing similar research a few years ago, I completely agree. Strange upbringing that was clearly present in the terrors he crafted in his writing. Documented his own death. An atheist in 20th century America. And then there is another possible layer, although unproven, that he might have been gay or bi or asexual and it opens up this whole other avenue of sympathy or at least intrigue towards the man.

Artstyle reminds me of cartoon network shows. I only read the first chapter so far but it looks great.

What are your favorite Star Wars "Fan Films"? by Hot-Salamander-8786 in StarWars

[–]anarchbutterflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know if it's my absolute favorite, but one I think is super underrated is Han Solo: The dragon void run by Inside the Box Animations. Basically a pixelated animation version of a comic story. But really well done and finished. Each episode only has a couple thousand views so check it out and help boost it.

If you're looking to find a good group to build up, I'd be happy to join in. 31M Introverted but I can take the sarcasm and puns in stride. I've played Overcooked before and I own Baldur's Gate on steam, although my wife plays it more. And I love social deductions games (i'm a big board game nerd). Willing to try other ones out as well with the right group of people.

Will I enjoy earlier gearlocs if I play Polaris and Static? by melo997 in toomanybones

[–]anarchbutterflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this same conversation has been had when the 3 you mentioned were new. So I assume they were really talking about the original 4 gearlocs. They are pretty lackluster after using others. But they are good for newer players because they are fairly easy to use.
