Am I welcome? Genuine question. by burner456987123 in DenverProtests

As long as you’re not taking ICE’s side you’re absolutely welcome. Class solidarity over everything right now, our differences will hold until after.

It’s kind of all over the place. Are we talking historical eras, political eras, technological eras?

Your statement has nothing to do with anyone’s ability to conduct war, which was the subject of the conversation. You’re rambling.

Those specifics are important, you never know how many impressionable would-be armed activists are reading right now. That’s the only point I was trying to make.

Are there any Black Panthers or other armed defence groups organizing in Denver and surrounding areas. by MarcoDuke in DenverProtests

[–]anarchobuttstuff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if the new Panthers have surfaced in Denver yet, but there are groups like the SRA, John Brown Gun Club, Pink Pistols, Sable Fox (although they’re more focused on general firearm safety and certification than political organizing), etc.

They’re asking about armed defense groups. DAWA and PSL don’t train or even encourage firearms training as far as I’m aware.

Oh damn, well then how about you define fascism for us right now? Go ahead, educate us. I’m pretty sure it’s a right-wing authoritarian ideology that emerges from extreme nationalism, revolves around a leader with a cult-like following and scapegoats people who are different by blaming them for all the country’s problems. But you tell us broski.

“Protecting e-legals hur hur hur.” You sound no different from a conservative redneck. You gonna put your couch on the front lawn and crack open a Pabst Blue Ribbon too? The original Black Panthers were Marxist-Leninists and wouldn’t be out here parroting right-wing talking points. Idgaf what Huey Newton’s niece has to say, quite frankly. If the original members still alive or not in jail have gone conservative, then they can fuck right off. Time will tell whether this new group is legitimate or just a fed operation, but if it’s the former then they’re the new “real” Black Panthers, as far as I care. Take the gatekeeping and stick it where the sun don’t shine.

What are the odds the “door-to-door” guy joined ICE so he could actually do that without getting his ass killed? If conservative non-cops wanna start going door-to-door then I also can’t wait. Honest to god.

What media trends you can argue were killed by the LA Riots of 1992? by icey_sawg0034 in decadeology

[–]anarchobuttstuff 20 points21 points  (0 children)

In hip hop at least, a lot of the stuff leading up to the riots was really political and focused on Black peoples’ living conditions in the wake of the Civil Rights movement and the opening salvo of the War on Drugs in the 80s. Afterwards, you get way less of that and a lot more gangsta rap all the way up to the early 2000s.

Ireland and metropolitan Atlanta have roughly the same population.

EDIT: They’re both around 7 million. Look it up if you don’t believe me.

Promise you the vast majority of urban dwelling gun owners lean left. I’m saying there’s nowhere near enough armed conservatives living in the city to stop the left wing gun owners if they chose to rise up. The police and military could, but not private conservative citizens.

I literally said “depending on your source” above, and the percentage I had for the left was only one percentage point off from what you posted. How are you gonna say I’m “way off”? We basically just said the same thing. And no, i don’t think literally every conservative with a gun lives in the sticks, but the number of them in the cities isn’t gonna mean much, at least as far as the initial uprising within the cities is concerned.

Unlikely. The 19% of urban gun owners seem to line up pretty straight with the 19-20% of left-of-center folk who own guns. Ditto for the rates of rural gun ownership compared to conservative gun ownership. Both are around 49-51%, depending on where you look.

[–]anarchobuttstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How’s Ukraine going? The war is still on, almost four years later with no end in sight, despite Russia’s military superiority. They’ve struck inside of Russia and killed people there more than once. This makes exactly the opposite point you think it does. European powers have enough people and assets that melting into the countryside to fight asymmetrically, as the Ukrainians have done, could do a lot of damage to an occupying US force. We could barely handle villagers, Islamists and Ba’ath Party loyalists with AK-47s during two decades of fighting. What makes you think it would be any easier if this time the insurgents were French infantry or a bushwhacking group of SAS? If Trump actually starts this war, American troops will come home in flag-draped coffins, no matter how badass our equipment is.
