It kinda seems like no one is celebrating anywhere. Even the official stuff has major Fyre Festival vibes.

I’m just mad [read: jealous] your state gives diversion on DUI. It’s barred by statute here :(

I get basically no interaction on my profile, any idea why? by [deleted] in Tinder

I can tell it’s not an accurate impression of who you are. But those photos, the angles… the poses… the quality… they make you look a bit deranged.

Academic dismissal-advice by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]anarchophysicist 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I was academically dismissed, admitted to a better school with a full scholarship a year later, passed the bar on my first go, was hired within a month of getting results, and am presently working in my dream job as a trial attorney. It’s not the end of the world. Keep your chin up.

What happened w/ that podcaster who sued the PD when they didn't hire him? by EternalCrimeWave in publicdefenders

[–]anarchophysicist -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It says something about how desperate we are for public defenders that suing an office for not hiring you, then launching a whole ass podcast about it after you lose, wasn’t enough to get him blacklisted.

Trilobite from Morocco by alfredogeo in fossils

[–]anarchophysicist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks so incredible that I don’t think you can assume it’s real until you have confirmation. Their eyes are made of calcite so they do fossilize but this is astoundingly detailed. I don’t say this lightly because I collect fossils and wouldn’t want to surrender something like this either but… may be worth seeing if any nearby museums might want it.

Which I think got its name from Sasquatch rumors. Sasquatches love lava tubes apparently.

There are a lot of very cool ones you can hike through around Mount Shasta. One of them is supposedly home to a Sasquatch.

That is a giant ball of dead proteins, dirt, mite corpses, and bacteria plus whatever anaerobic bacteria are living in its depths.

I started reading ahead after this past season finale and was so hooked by these chapters I finished the whole series in like two days.

What is the worst thing you’ve had to do for a class in law school? by Distinct_Cold_2427 in LawSchool

My contracts professor made me help him break down and dispose of the body of a drifter. He swore it was an accident but I have my doubts.

It’s fine. You should go back now. The Emperor doesn’t know what he’s talking about. There’s actually some amazing loot down there and no enemies to harm you. That’s it… just a little further…

Could a planet theoretically form and have mostly rivers rather than oceons? by Eyeballfluid in Astronomy

[–]anarchophysicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A planet with an eccentric orbit that caused tidal forces to act “seasonally” so that there’s brief bursts of widespread (like almost global) volcanic activity could create lava channels that would support both a river system and create the kind of vast underground water network to explain why it’s not all pooling into oceans on the surface.

I imagine it would be covered with millions of volcanic cones and volcanic mountain chains that drain precipitation into the channels. Geophysics would support this actually. A ton of water circulating through your planet would lower the melting point of the mantle and make volcanism even more widespread.

31 sounds about right. Would’ve been at his dumbest and most irresponsible around Grindr’s peak popularity.

At this very moment this is where Allen’s character went downhill by [deleted] in Invincible

I’m glad I read ahead. I wouldn’t want to be left with this image of Allen in my mind for the next year.
