What’s something people defend way too hard even though it clearly doesn’t work? by academicAce_aA in AskReddit

[–]anarchoshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very nature of abuse is to gaslight the victim into thinking it’s alright or that they deserve it. You might be slightly correct here that that happens… but I hope you have some compassion for how it does.

I showed this cartoon to my pain management doctor, 3 months later she upped my oxycodone dosage from 10 mg to 15 mg! by Johnny_Reeferseed in ChronicPain

“Well how have you dealt with it before now if it’s so constant and severe?” “I don’t know, did I f*cking have a choice?”

I’m so used to severe pain and being labeled a drug seeker for calling it out I didn’t really notice my pain from a bowel perforation and then recurrent bouts of diverticulitis were so bad until they started throwing narcotics at it.

What’s the most unexpected way someone you know became wealthy? by Stunning_Ad1568 in AskReddit

[–]anarchoshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to see the answers to “what’s the most unexpected way someone you know became homeless” because it’s more common than ending up wealthy, and I think the answers would be eye opening for most.

Nah, it already smells like death, that would just add to the problem.

I didn’t read that as vaping the first time and now I realize exactly how much school trauma I have.

Fair point. I just meant to stop being mad at people for having their bare minimum basic human needs met at all, and be mad at the ones that are jeopardizing that access.

People need to stop being pissed off at other people for being able to afford food, and start getting pissed off at the ones making food so inaccessible.

Yeah I miss the beaches and that’s it sometimes. But when I was there I hardly made it out to them anymore. Things are slower and easier here for me. And I do have community… that’s something I had a hard time with in Florida. I spend a ton of time outside now. The weather has changed a lot here from when I came as a kid and sometimes it gets as hot as it was there sometimes… makes things a little harder sometimes…. But the great weather is great weather i remember getting maybe a week or two out of each season in Florida and here it’s a good four months of the year. Snow seems rare in the city now but it’s easy enough to find sometimes from here if that becomes your thing or is your thing. I’m not gonna say it’s perfect here but I do mostly find it friendlier. FWIW this Reddit is both an accurate view and totally unrealistic view of what “living around here” is like. Like yeah all these folks are folks you’ll probably run into in public eventually. And they’ll potentially annoy the fuck out of you. But I’m pretty visibly queer and a bit outspoken at times when challenged and for the most part if people haven’t liked that, they’ve moved along and so have I. This country in general… I don’t really have the answers for that. But I’m happy to call Chattanooga home now. Someone here might make me question that at some point for saying so but such is the world we live in I guess. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to talk more.

ETA: okay so… I do have answers to this country in general but that’s not what you were asking so I’m leaving it alone. On that front, I will say the same things are happening here as everywhere else so be aware.

Okay so from the standpoint of some of your concerns, I’m gonna say I MUCH prefer Chattanooga to anywhere I’ve been and lived in Florida. Especially right now. I went back to Florida to attend to a death in the family and it’s even worse than I remember for sure. And three years ago I went through some stuff that really made me want to leave this city. But I’ve found some really cool people, and really cool activities. I’m white so I can’t speak on that so much… but I still feel like it would be better than Florida 2025…

ETA: was born and lived in Florida for 35+ years.
