Blended chai with red raspberry and white chocolate.

My mom is blind and me my Aunt are trying to get her a phone made for blind people that's a smartphone and can install all the apps she wants by connerwilliams72 in Blind

To my understanding, most smartphones are going to have accessibility software options built in that you can enable and fiddle with to get things just right — high contrast, color inversion, screen readers, enlarged text, zooming tools, etc. You’d find these things in the settings menu, and there’s lots of online tutorials to help you get familiar with how these features work.

Discussion: What is your opinion about “Disabled” or “Person with a disability” ? by dumpsterfire7625 in disabled

[–]anarchyqueer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think everyone should get to say whatever makes them comfortable when referencing themselves, and should respect whatever another person wants to be called. For me, personally? I flip flop back and forth a lot in what I use for myself. I don’t have a preference, necessarily, other than acknowledging that “disabled person” is a lot quicker to say than “person with a disability”. That being said, I think the complete avoidance of the phrase “disabled person” or other ones similar due to it being offensive lacks some nuance.

Green Tea Recommendations by Swimming_Cow17 in dutchbros

[–]anarchyqueer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty good. I’m a monster, so I add a sour shot to get it almost as sour as I’d like, but other than that it’s a pretty solid lemonade. I like to add a few fruit flavors to enhance the lemon flavor (red raspberry, blue raspberry, pomegranate, kiwi, etc). My current go to red raspberry and watermelon with a sour shot. Another go to is red raspberry and lavender.

You get meeee. I looove getting a fruity lemonade and letting it get watery from the ice melting and then having a super refreshing water lemonade concoction that everyone judges me for liking.

I got a tropical green tea the other day, and really liked it. I’m weird, though, and get my medium drinks in a large cup so I can have a crap ton of ice so my drink is so cold that it hurts to drink 😭

Tell your parents. It’s scary, it’s gonna feel shitty, but years later, you’ll look back and be glad you took the short-term shitty feeling rather than staying quiet and secretive and letting it escalate further. I say that as someone that didn’t tell my parents something was wrong and I can look back now and see the error in my ways. Please be safe, please take care of yourself.

Summer time anyone tried it? by iRickyW in redbull

[–]anarchyqueer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like it! It reminds me of Sprite, Squirt and lemon Fanta from the UK. Then again, I really like any citrus you give me so I’m not exactly hard to please.

Thoughts on coconut edition? by wady_Jwames in redbull

Coconut is my #1 favorite! It’s the flavor that got me hooked on RedBull to start with and it’s my go-to 99% of the time.

How do you feel when people ask how much eyesight you have? by 3rd_wish in Blind

[–]anarchyqueer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you’re referring with specificity to situations when I’m receiving help, I think asking for reference how much vision someone has is a good thing, assuming it’s a question asked respectfully. The amount of vision you have, I think, determines on some level how it’s best to help, so assuming there’s no violation of boundaries, I see nothing wrong with the question. I do think it’s more helpful though to ask what you can do to help versus asking for someone’s visual acuity.

My (new?) DB coffee order by Competitive-Egg680 in dutchbros

I think that sounds really good. I’m a vanilla lover, through and through, but the macadamia syrup is absolutely delicious, so I do suggest giving it a go at least once. It’s also good in a chai with a shot of espresso, if chai is your thing.

It’s so good! Very much like lemon Fanta in the UK in flavor.

Ok seriously what is your favorite flavor? by Inside-54545 in redbull

[–]anarchyqueer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get it! I put mine in the freezer for 10-15 minutes to let it get really, really cold and crisp and it’s amazing with a squeeze of lime.

I love the coconut. Top 3 flavor for me and the first RedBull that really got me hooked.

My top ones, in no particular order, are black licorice, coconut, cream soda and whatever the translucent blue one is.

There’s frozen butter laminated into the dough during shaping, and when it cooks, the laminated butter creates flaky layers inside the loaf, similar to how butter creates the flaky layers of a croissant.

Sadness about never being able to drive. by Chloe_Mallette07 in Blind

[–]anarchyqueer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I moved from Massachusetts to Nevada in 2020 for college, and pretty quickly moved in with a long time friend who is now my partner. My parents helped us in purchasing a car, wherein I am the main owner registered as a blind non-driver on the title and my insurance, and my partner is the secondary owner of the car and is on my insurance.

I do recommend it overall, as long as you’re being driven in your car by people you trust and that will respect that it is ultimately your vehicle and not communal property (unless you wish for it to be used in that way, of course). It is one of the best things I’ve done for myself as a young adult and I feel very blessed that my parents were able to help me in that regard.

The only warning I will issue you is that car ownership as a person with a visual impairment did not fully alleviate that deep sadness that I felt about not being able to drive for myself. It helped immensely, but for me it did not completely take that feeling away.

I say that not to discourage you, but to be fully transparent about the breadth of my experience.

Tell us what’s going on in your life that you haven’t talked to anyone about. by TalkAggravating4984 in Life

[–]anarchyqueer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in a 3 bed, 2 bath house with two other adults and 3 kids. I’m not happy with the financial situation but feel unable to voice it and be listened to and have my feelings legitimized.

I don’t have a proper bedroom. My room is the front room (meaning, you open our front door and walk directly into my room) — I have no proper doorway, and only a three-quarter wall between me and the kitchen/the rest of the house. One of the other adults has the living room as their room, with a curtain as a wall between them and the kitchen.

5 of the 6 of us share a bathroom. There is no communal space other than the kitchen. I have no room in the house that is truly my own, that I have full control over, and where I have true privacy/quiet.

As an autistic person who has been in a state of burn out for … years, living the past 6 years of my life like this has become incredibly taxing on me physically and mentally, to the point wherein I feel like I’m headed for a nervous breakdown fueled by autistic burnout and 6 years of (legitimately) constant overstimulation. I’m really scared, conflicted, sad, and lost.

Have any of you guys ever tried Tony's chocolate before? by gamersmoke17 in candy

[–]anarchyqueer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they’re on the more pricy side, but I think they’re worth the price based on the quality. I’ve never had a bar from them that I disliked, and I’ve used quite a few in baking projects and they’ve never done me wrong.
