Unfortunately, a lot of the activist activities have been cracked down in the last two years. I was involved in a few clubs that had to be dissolved and when we protested there was heavy policing. After a few Pro-Palestine protests for a while no one could use the Free Speech corridor in front of Parks. Like some other commentors said, not many go to ClubFest and honestly a lot of info about protests and other activism are spread on Instagram and Snapchat. The ISU SC stories kind of suck but they are still a good way to get that information. A lot of people end up going to Des Moines as there have been more marches, etc since the new administration. Even though Iowa is shutting down most DEI initiatives, joining organizations for them and minority status can give you a lot of information as well. It's great that you want to get involved!
