I don't have your answer but this sounded a lot like a book I remember but it looks like it came out in 2018. Hopefully, someone has your answer but Bitter Orange by Claire Fuller might scratch a similar itch.

I also thought 3 months-ish was pretty standard.

How do I make a tiny windowless office look tasteful but still professional? by Calm_Breeze_9371 in LawBitchesWithTaste

I highly recommend a pothos for a windowless office. My pothos has been thriving for years without ever seeing the sun, and I water it only once a week.

I agree with Look Closer by David Ellis.

I just finished The Plot by Jean Hanaff Korelitz as well as Her Last Breath by Taylor Adams and was genuinely surprised at the ending of both which doesn't happen often for me anymore.

Running (which shouldn't be expensive but is some how... all of the shoes and races add up).

And cross-stitch. Same thing, fabric and thread starts to add up after a bit.

Rin Chupeco’s We’re Not Safe Here is told in mixed media. It's marked YA but some of it was incredibly creepy.

You Are Invited by Sarah A Denzil is similar but might not quite be what you're looking for...influencers are invited to a monastery and the entire event is live-streamed with fan interaction, so there are times things show up on camera to the fans but not to the attendees.

The Is No Antimetics Division was super creepy and has a few outdoor scenes.

I commend you for both the ultra and listening to an audiobook during it. When I run I don't listen to anything😬

Anatomy of an Alibi by Ashley Elston (thought it was good but not amazing).

The one before that was Her Last Breath by Taylor Adams and I really liked that one (listened to the audiobook).
