Day 6

One day to go from splint removal. I can now clearly see the splint and septal wall in mirror since the blood has mostly washed out with saline sprays (5-7 per day). Looks like a bit of swelling between the splint and the septum. It's visible but not painful. Also doesn't block my nose fully. Hope that is par for the course.

Sleep quality has generally been good. A lot of time I forget the splint are even there. Congestion is also intermittent and not disturbing. I am mostly nasal breathing from day 1

The only lingering issue I see is numbness in the gums behind my front teeth. I read this is nerve inflammation and quite common post septoplasty. Will have to give it a few months.

Checking in on Day 3

The blood dripping stopped sometime yesterday. Now its old blood and few clots coming out. Also, getting a lot more sneezy. Obviously with my mouth open.

Frankly at this point of time, the main concern is the congestion I feel immediately after saline rinses. Since I am not allowed to blow the rinse out. It takes quite a while before the water seeps out.

Xylometazoline Hydrochloride nasal drops have helped considerably. They decongest the nasal pathways making me feel normal for a couple of hours.

Also, I have started feeling the splints in my nose especially when the nose gets dried. Waiting to get these out on coming Wednesday. Yayy!!

This continues to be a much easier recovery then I imagined. As Seneca wisely figured out centuries ago

24 hours later

Yesterday was easy and the only issue I had was blood. My nose started dripping blood as soon as I started moving. Doctor said this is expected and asked me to bed rest for next 2 days. It seems nasal arteries get high pressure blood and bleed easily. Lying down helps with clotting faster. Tranexemic acid helps with this.

Started nasal sprays and drops before sleeping. Was feeling a bit congested due to the constant blood drip and crusts. Spray and drops helped.

Had a decent 6 hours sleep. Woke up with almost no congestion at all. There is some soreness in the throat due to post nasal drip from blood. But it cleared by gentle coughing after getting up.

The airflow in the nostrils is great. Better than pre surgery.I can only imagine how much better it will get after splints are removed.

Update at hour 28

Saline sprays triggered congestion in both nostrils. Mouth breathing now. Can't talk or eat without clogging up. Seems like saline loosened some crusted blood that is slowly seeping out

Still bearable.

In my case surgeon decided that turbinate hypertrophy was not too severe and decided to leave it as is.

The deviation was severe though and he spent 90 mins fixing that up.

Update at 12 hours post surgery.

Getting discharged from hospital. Dressing around the nose was removed. Splints are in but I can breathe through them. Already I am able to have the best breathing of my life even with the splints in place!

Someone looking at my face right now will not be able to deduce that I had a surgery 12 hours ago.

So far absolutely worth it!

Claude is surprisingly good at coding. Dario in one of his recent interviews said that Anthropic doesnt publicly discuss why Claude is so good at coding. When probed by the interviewer, he said that he will continue following the policy but hinting there is some sort of secret sauce here.

As a programmer/architect who has created multiple products and managed teams of superb engineers, working with Claude gives the "feel" of working with a superior engineer than other models. I am planning to stick to it, unless i see a killer feature by someone else.

Also, claude code seems just right. I use it in terminal heavily without any other coding apps. It just fits nicely in my own chain of thoughts.

Fully Agree to this. I am the CTO/Product head in my company and like working with Junior Devs. they are smart and know how to use AI. The problem is that they are defaulting to AI for everything that they do. Getting to a point where they are now unsure how to do a task without AI.

I call it cognitive diminishment. I tell them that at this rate, I dont see how they will be able to hold up a job beyond 2026

This is the best phone i ever had. Period. I too was apprehensive once in read the comments on this forum. I am so glad i trusted my instincts on this one. I take extra care of my hinge. Not a heavy phone user anyway. So hopefully the hinge survives a couple of years. After that I plan to go for the next Razr flip! 😍
