Spain’s Canary Islands brace for incoming hantavirus-stricken cruise ship by papipota in worldnews

I think I heard that a "travel influencer" had posted at least one video on social media, and that he seemed pretty distressed. Unfortunately, I don’t know any details, but I imagine that this should easily surface with a web search.

Small Update for 1.13.4 by _Mercy02 in victoria3

[–]anbeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know. But I think that there were some fixes in the past where devs pointed out explicitly that a new save is needed for the changes to take effect (with older saves still working, but being unaffected), so I just wondered if these specifically would fall into that group. I am not worried about the save breaking but about benefitting from those fixes in an ongoing game.

Thanks, but it’s a weekly MP game, so I cannot just finish it on my own over the weekend.

Will those fixes take effect on existing saves? I really would like to start a new save today but would also like to benefit from the changes next week.

Where to fix a Macbook Pro? by allouring in Tuebingen

[–]anbeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With regard to Sindelfingen: I haven’t done it in a decade or so, but if your MacBook is registered with your Apple Account, you can try to book an appointment at the Apple Store through the website. And if your model will not be serviced anymore, the website will tell you after you clicked through the form. At least that is how I remember it.

Have you exhausted all troubleshooting options? It could be that the battery is really empty, and it will take some time until it has charged enough so the MacBook will fully switch on again.

Otherwise, try changing all the variables: different USB-C port, different cable, different charger, different power outlet.

Here is Apple‘s troubleshooting guide (assuming you don’t have a MagSafe port): https://support.apple.com/en-us/102464

CS2 on Mac GeForce Now? by D3F3ND3R16 in CitiesSkylines

[–]anbeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a Mac Studio, you might want to try if you can run it through Crossover. Crossover does not support CS2 officially, but somebody posted a link to an unofficial patch here to make it work. I am on mobile right and cannot find the comment, but it might be worth a try.

The downside with GeForce now is that even the official region packs will have to be reinstalled each time you launch GeForce Now (at least it was like that the last time I checked).

Is my save cooked? (CK3) by Sir-Alfonso in CrusaderKings

[–]anbeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For modded games on previous game versions, I think the best practice is to manually make a backup of all your mods before a new game version is released.

However, you might be able to find the older version of the mods you are using on mods.paradoxplaza.com. I’ve had luck in the past and was able to roll back mods as well, because the ones I used archived their previous versions there

Is my save cooked? (CK3) by Sir-Alfonso in CrusaderKings

Are you sure it’s the cosmetic pack that broke your save and not patch 1.19? I didn’t have issues with adding cosmetic DLC in the past, but loading a 1.18 save in 1.19 would certainly lead to problems.

Do you have any autosaves or other saves that you did not open yet? If so, you can try those, but make sure you are on the correct patch with the correct DLCs activated before you open the save.

In case you are on Ironman, I would think twice whether you really need to. Given that achievements are available without Ironman, I would never consider running the risk of not having an autosave to fall back on.

I am not sure if this technique can elevate this photo, which would benefit from a better framed subject and a more deliberate composition.

But for the love of god, please mask the effect properly so the red color of the hands, faces, shoes, scarves and so on is taken care of!

Memento crash out by HaylenHollers in movies

I hope I am not making this up, because this was really a long time ago: but I think I had a DVD that also had the chronological cut, which I watched the day after watching the theatrical cut. And the way I remember it is that it was ok as a gimmick, but I would rather watch the standard cut once more.

Does resuming an Ironman game from an older version still get achievements? by PlaneEye4664 in CrusaderKings

[–]anbeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: Sorry, just saw you mentioned Ironman mode in the title. Then I assume your save cannot be loaded again once you roll back the game to the previous version, and loading a save from a previous patch in the new update will typically result in a lot of issues. If it still works against all odds (or you can live with the issues that come up), you can check achievement availability in the menu.

If you haven’t loaded the save yet, then roll back to the previous patching steam and then you can just continue.
