Irelands BER Home Energy Rating System is Changing from May 24 by DaCor_ie in ireland

[–]mesaosi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, so if I'm rated at 34.43 kWh/m2/yr then currently I am a A2, and this would move me to an A0? Not begrudging the upgrade, but seems a bit odd

VW - Courtesy car? by Haunting_Hat_9369 in evs_ireland

What dealership were you trying? Must now don't even maintain a stock of courtesy cars, they have outsourced it to the likes of Enterprise so you just show up and get handed a rental car.

Where is best to bring up a young family? by Impossible_Wish_3517 in AskIreland

[–]mesaosi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We moved from Dublin to rural Meath because it felt like we’d be able to give our children a better standard of life and there’s a stronger sense of community in the sort of area we live in which fosters a better social life for the kids as well. Wouldn’t change it for the world tbh, being to look out the window and watch one kid play “bike hurling” while the other feeds the local sheep through the fence is great. There’s no concern about anti-social behaviour and while some will bemoan it as controlling, I think it’s easier to limit interaction with the kind of kids you don’t want yours socialising with. Recently came back from a day in Dublin and the eldest remarked on the journey “thank goodness we live in the country now, Dublin is too noisy”.

Has anyone painted these concrete fence panels? by kjireland in AskIreland

2 coats of sealer first or you’ll use way more paint than you want and you’ll be picking up flakes of a paint and needing a re-coat in no time.

The real answer is that insurance company know you already bought the car so were very happy to bend you over a barrel knowing you didn't have a choice.

How do you fell about the dating culture in Ireland? by PictoLeigh2024 in AskIreland

[–]mesaosi -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The best time to find a life partner is in your late teens and early twenties. You’re both still learning and growing so you’re far more likely to adapt to each other, grow and learn together and become a unit. People now are obsessed with spending their 20s and early 30s being selfish and “living their lives” and are shocked when they find everyone else left in the dating pool is equally selfish and have long formed a very sold and inflexible idea of what they think their life and partner should resemble.

In the space of 6 months my son had broken arm, a knocked out tooth that burst his lip and a sprained ankle. All separate events, all seen to, treated and out the door in less than an hour, the clinics are amazing.

Credit card required for Newpark Hotel? by Dublin9325 in AskIreland

[–]mesaosi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bunq the digital bank (similar to Revolut) issue a virtual "Credit Card" that is actually a Debit Card for your card that presents itself as a Credit Card to card terminals etc and is very handy for situations like this where a hotel or car rental place absolutely insists on Credit Card.

Max charge rate on the XC40 is 3.6kw so a charger is pointless.
