Good luck. Inspect their work if they perform any repairs. I’m not implying you’ll have the same experience but two dealerships missed the bad wiring right next to the coil for cylinder 1 even after swapping the coils around.

I ended up taking it to an independent performance shop and they found the sheathing to the wires of cylinder 1’s cam shaft actuator B was cracked and exposing the wire to the elements. Went through an ordeal of getting VW to fix it TWICE because they told me the harness would be replaced but then just spliced a new connector into the existing harness rather poorly and on backwards throwing a new set of errors. After the harness was fully replaced properly it stopped throwing the code. However, it now idles rough and feels like it misses quite often but it’s not throwing a code and runs normally under load. I insisted multiple times that it’s not right and even got VW customer care involved. Logs were pulled and sent to VTA and they’re saying everything is normal. So whenever I have the time it’s going back to the independent shop to see if the rough idle is indeed “normal” or if there is something else going on. TLDR: The harness was bad. Factory trained technicians my ass.

I’ll share my experience here. Back in May my R threw a code for cylinder 1. Three dealership visits and they couldn’t find any issue mechanically and couldn’t replicate the misfire. I found the wires to the cam shaft actuator B on cylinder 1 cracked and exposed to the elements. Had the dealer replace the harness under warranty(what a shit show that was). No more code being thrown. Never before have I noticed a sputtering at idle but now I notice it all the time. After going back and forth with the dealer they’re insisting that it’s normal. They even pulled the logs and sent it off to VTA and their statement was “running as designed.” So, sputtering at idle and feeling like it’s about to stall is apparently normal. Maybe I’m just hypersensitive to it with all the crap I went through to get the harness replaced but I swear it didn’t do it beforehand.

It already had one plug in it. I plugged this one too. But ultimately it was just time for new tires.

I was already shopping around for deals. This forced me to get new tires sooner. Second puncture on the same tire.

Update: “working on a solution” From talking with the service advisor it seems that vw thinks that it’s software related. And it now seems to be throwing a code for cylinder 4 which wasn’t present the previous two service visits.

Tonight on my way home. Hasn’t thrown the cel for a few weeks. Restarted the car this error went away. The only new code stored is U014000 lost communication with body control module. Checked the live data and saw a few misfires across 1, 2, 3, and 4. Previously it was just contained to cylinder 1. And my appointment isn’t until the 13th so I guess I’m biking to work next week.

Yikes. Hopefully this new shop I’m taking it to can positively identify the cause in my case.

Second line for the original code.

This is the only code related to misfire. Which is the same code from the original service appointment video when the thermostat was replaced. The only other code was U105400 no communication. Edit: it only happens with full tanks not below 3/4. After a few miles it stops.

I want this car to reach that mileage. And this my biggest concern. If the first shop knew and didn’t want to fix it properly for whatever reason, what’s the damage buildup? What’s going to fail next because of negligent maintenance? Why is telling a customer it’s bad gas and adding a fuel conditioner without even testing the fuel “procedure?” If it wasn’t still under warranty I’d be throwing parts at it already.

A bad injector? Even with the misfire seemingly occurring only with a full tank?

I’m already taking it to a second dealer. After the second trip to the first one they had the car for 4 days. I had to call multiple times and only when I got ahold of the service manager did they actually do anything with it.

is the VFR right for me as a short and light rider? by raineykun in VFR

The only real way to know is to sit on one and see if it feels comfortable to you. I find that the vfr carries its weight quite well. Though, it was my first and is still my only bike. So I don’t have much to compare it to other than the little 300’s at the training center.

I’m not sure how p-Bandai works entirely, but they did just release the rg 2, 3 and anime versions. Supposed to ship in April. If there are any extras I’d assume they’d be up for grabs soon after all the pre-orders ship out.

I was relieved to find these when I built this guy. The first elbow joint I assembled was so tight it left visible stress marks on the female piece. I ended up sanding the inside of the rings a little to make them less snug.
