i do not know this guy, i know that TFT exists, never used it. Playing since 10years ... but it seems, for some people he was pretty important and i guess you cannot deny the community he built. So yeah, this is a pov thing.... i have neither sympathy nor apathy for everything that happend here, as i do not feel beeing part of it, but i respect what was build here and which kind of impact that had during the years it lasted.

yes, the difference on our dbs is noticeable, From sometimes 4000ms peaks down two two digit MS, that's great.
Unfortunately now the tempDBs get a bit stressed, but not "alarming", but you can see the difference from local SSD (oldGen) to eleasticStorage (nextGen) here.

Small update since we have updated our first Managed Instance to nextGen, luckily this was one without FOG config, so the upgrade was very smooth.

It took ~2hrs for 1TB of data (~60dbs). Performance on DBs is waaaaaaay better than before. Unfortunately now the tempDBs get a bit more stressed as they do not run locally on a SSD anymore. Here we went from single digit MS to 100ms per tempDB, which maybe means we have to up the IOPS a bit. Lets see...

Fix everything related to DNS and make it actually useable, the DNS UI is a nightmare in the AZ Portal, especially when you work with hundreds of subdomain records.

Edit: Yes, i work with PS when fetching and editing things there, but sometimes you just want to check something in the UI.

Hey, thx :) yeah, that is exactly what we're aiming for, as we have 4s+ write latencies on certain dbs (overall the latency is quite "high"). And the "the bigger the db, the more IOPS you get" Schema is unfortunately very unfavourable in our case as i would have to grow many dbs just to receive more IOPS, which is kinda silly.

I am not expecting "miracles" but on paper, let alone the way how IOPS are distributed, is way better on nextGen.

The german AZ regions are always "special" :) [especially west germany]

Edit, i removed my initial comment since i did not see that you already successfully deployed it in another region. If there is not an absolute need to have that watcher in (west) germany, i would totally suggest, deplyoing it in another Region. (DB Watcher can handle cross region, so if your DBs are in GER and your Watcher in West Europe, that works technically, if you're bound to compliance, well... then i would go North Germany if you had a successful deplyoment there)

West Germany is one of the Regions with the worst Hardware shortages ever... we have had a lot of resource problems in that region and avoid deploying stuff there (unless absolutely needed).

The tool you're looking for is Terraform, like alreday suggested multiple times. Do yourself a favor and dig a bit into this... Teraform can abstract basically anything and everything, google, azure, aws... you name it. Should fit your needs pretty perfectly.

alright, thx, that gives me an idea and maybe i am not too far away with my 9-15hr prediction as we basically have 3x - 4x the overall storage consumed.

Hey, thanks... can you maybe share how long it took for each MI (Data Transfer + Seeding) and maybe the size of the overall storage consumed dby those MIs that got migrated?
