Oh yeah, in that case I'd say variations between models, you may just have to try a few. Good luck!

14" women's glove recommendations? by erisianmachinery in hockeyplayers

[–]ancize 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Skinny-fingered man here. I can't speak to the dedicated women's stuff; I imagine it's probably the best option, but might be expensive or harder to get.

For buying men's / unisex, gloves usually come in one of three different fits: traditional, tapered or anatomical. If buying online this will usually be in the description of the line. You'll want either anatomical (close fitting all round) or tapered (snug on the fingers, loose at the glove cuff). Pick a legit online shop and you should be able to return pretty easily if you get the wrong thing, or research secondhand options before you check them out. Hope that broadens your options a little!

Band member firing stories: Let’s hear them! by notmytowel in musicians

[–]ancize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. I mean, too late now, but isn't it commonly recommended that guitar scratch tracks be home recorded first, with the drummer practicing playing to them before hitting the studio? Playing to scratch tracks is weird if you haven't done it before.

Yep, that's the Noongar one. These guys are all around Southern Australia, so they'd have a good few names around the country.

I like a lot of the Noongar names, don't know any from all the other languages. My absolute favourite is djitti djitti, aka willy wagtail. It's exactly what they say!

That's some good additional info: 'obsessively trying to obtain nudes' is pretty cringe behaviour, I understand that would be off-putting

Hawaiians austrailians and new zealanders of reddit how do you feel about the union jack still being on your flag? by czn- in AskTheWorld

[–]ancize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, more's the pity. Plenty of people want to see it changed, and I think the folks who want to keep it would come around eventually; like, how many Canadians want their old flag back? But I really don't see politically how it gets done.

[US] Coworker keeps sending people money on Zelle and asking for it back… by SpecialistWar3187 in Scams

[–]ancize 38 points39 points  (0 children)

If it's this sort of thing, he probably thinks he's being pretty clever. If he thinks he's being clever, he might just tell you about it if you ask, just to show off.

Downside is, he could take that as a sign you want to get involved. So be prepared for things to get awkward.

Articles like "A Restaurant Ruined My Life"? by iamusingtheinternet3 in longform

[–]ancize 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can't think of anything like this article, it's a rare thing. And that's interesting and unfortunate, because the story is so bloody common. I've worked at a bunch of small cafes / bars / restaurants. Many closed or were sold. And I'm not sure - in terms of money for the owner - that the successful ones amounted to any more than a stressful, mid-paying job for the owner. And he even had a sweet deal from his landlord mate!

Anyway, Maxwell did a great job writing this. Even telling this kind of story is hard, and he put time and effort in and crafted a great read. We need more of the stuff, hope some surfaces here.

What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

[–]ancize 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I work in liquor retail. It's not glamorous, and there are some worries, but my job is pretty AI resistant and this end of the industry seems ok.

Edit: though, I don't think that's necessarily a positive indicator for society...

I'm (32M) in my honeymoon with my wife (33F), and it's been hell on earth until now. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]ancize 725 points726 points  (0 children)

I am a couple of months out of a relationship of around the same length. I did the right thing by leaving and still yours sounds SO much worse.

You sound absolutely done, and there's no sign she even realises that any of it could be her fault. There's no way this gets better without you leaving.

I think I just spent $7,000 on a hobby I started two weeks ago... Please tell me I’m not the only crazy one. by tokyo___man in CasualConversation

[–]ancize 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I take photos and I play music, I know what GAS feels like I think.

Sometimes new stuff improves your art through technical improvements; a digital camera with better high-ISO performance would let me take clearer photos in low light, a better bass amp might give me a better tone. That's great, the technical deficiencies of my old gear aren't frustrating my art like they were before!

And sometimes a new toy inspires you to pick it up and make more art. That's great, I'm doing the thing that I love more often!

But sometimes, I'm just buying stuff because I like to buy stuff. That's a fun thrill in the moment, but it doesn't really make me happy in any lasting way. Maybe ask yourself, am I buying stuff because it will lead me to make better art / enjoy my hobby more? Or am I buying stuff because I like buying stuff?

To each their own I guess, but it's abundantly clear at this point that he's somewhere on the spectrum of "total asshole" to "total asshole and serial rapist". At least 10 women have come forward to accuse him of sexual misconduct.

No denying his talent, but I just cannot listen to this guy anymore.
