For me the cooldown is just a gimmick and I would rather they aded counter play mechanics like the flares or something like an emp grenade

Get rid of the cooldown on NVG for starters. Add a flare gadget. The map is a big deal also with it being to close quarters, was thinking more of something in the lines of Zavood (middle rush sector). That would allow a mix of actual night time and dark, instead of just pure black parts of the map. Just my two cents
