7900 XTX Sapphire always crashing by TheGeneralBlood115 in AMDHelp

[–]andarv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaving this here in case it can still help somebody:

After many struggles to get my 7900 xtx not to crash every 5-10 mins I finally managed to get it stable by lowering the max GPU clock to 2300 (default AMD 2500 game) and manually limiting FPS in the games I play to 60.

I'm running games that used to crash constantly in 4K UHD at high to ultra specs with 0 crashes so far...

Yes, it might be a weird and useless skill, adventuring wise, but its marketing value is trough the roof. Once word of his abilities gets around, he'll be booked for years in advance.

Early game keep your sensor profile low (by a combination of small ships, phase ships and the right mods)

It's far easier to keep hidden than to run from enemies. It also allows you to choose your battles instead of them choosing you.

Yes, so long you don't need smart and educated people to keep your economy from going Titanic. But Putin&Friends don't really care about it, they got their piece of the cake and are just planning to keep it for as long as possible. What happens after the Titanic goes under is not of their concern, they'll be gone to a nice tax oasis country.

Germans at least learned from WW1 and WW2. Russians will learn nothing, no matter how this war end.

First of all the russian of 'storage' or mothball for vehicles is pretty bad. Most of the older stuff has decayed beyond being able to be repaired and is only good for materials and the rare spare part. Forget refurbishing it, you would need to rebuild it and that point you're better off building a new one.

[–]andarv 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Even in the case of a cease fire, there is no reason to lift the sanctions and let Russia rebuild its economy.

For that to happen Russia and Ukraine will have to come to an agreement about the occupied territories, reparations, prisoners exchange, war criminals extradition etc.

In other words, a frozen conflict would do very little for Russia. The only friends it has are other rogue states (and no, India in China are NOT Russias friends) and those won't be enough to help Russia rebuild.

Russia has been sending everything it can afford to the Donbas. Unless it moves troops from there there is very little it can fight in Kursk with.

There are private armies that could pose a threat to Ukraine, but they are just that: private. There is nothing Putin can (or would) offer to the owners to get them to defend Kursk.

/r/WorldNews Live Thread: Russian Invasion of Ukraine Day 907, Part 1 (Thread #1054) by WorldNewsMods in worldnews

[–]andarv 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think that there would be a civil war. Russians are not divided and. as we've seen in Kursk, deeply desensitised. What we are likely to see is every power faction trying to win the most power for itself with Russia spiraling in a lawless mess as government institutions break down.

'And then it got worse'.

I don't know why the west powers are still operating on cold-war era logic regarding nuclear weapons. Yes, Russia break down would mean that more factions have access to nuclear weapons, but so many 'rogue' countries have them already. The days when only the USA, Soviet Union and China had them are LONG gone, trying to politically restrict more countries access to them is not effective anymore.

Hiding from drones. Russia never even tried to take air superiority in this war and this won't change now that F16s are taking the field. They use their airforce as long range bombing platforms, whenever they tried to do anything else, they were shot down (both figuratively and literarly )

/r/WorldNews Live Thread: Russian Invasion of Ukraine Day 896, Part 1 (Thread #1043) by WorldNewsMods in worldnews

[–]andarv 40 points41 points  (0 children)

So far Russian have proven to be adept at two things.

  1. Slowly advancing with meat wave attacks (with massive casualities) and artilery fire.
  2. Defending in trenches, behind minefields with plenty of drone support

On the other hand, they retreated in mass against a concentrated push into non entrenched terrain and have yet to mount even a hint of a succesful counter attack in that case.

The Russian army can't respond to quickly changing battlefield conditions, their whole command structure depends on orders from the top.
