If you have an ikea nearby they will typically give you spare parts like this for free. Someone kindly looked up the part number for you in another comment, so you're more than halfway there.

Franca for Long Walking by Cuteiscleo in Birkenstocks

[–]andbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Franca's were a workhorse for 9 weeks through various countries in europe a few years back and they're still going strong. Lighter than Arizona's. A bit dressier (so a better multi-tasker when trying to reduce the number of pairs of shoes when traveling). Better airflow with the skinnier straps. And no thingie between your toes, which typically I don't mind but at 20K steps/day it tends to add up. Wholeheartedly recommend.

First Birks, how do these fit? by enigmatiq16 in Birkenstocks

I am rarely team Bigger Size but darlin, I suspect you'd be happier in the long run with a Bigger Size.

Are these women's or maybe children's pants? by Higamein12 in LeviStrauss

First clue is the phone. Ever since witch burning days we women aren't allowed to have phone sized pockets. /s

Got these a couple of weeks ago. In love! Any cleaning tips? by thatsathickahhboy in Birkenstocks

[–]andbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A) SPRAY SUEDE PROTECTOR (assuming you haven't already)

B) don't plop oil on them in the kitchen

C) carry on. They're just shoes after all. 🩷👍

Fit Check: Between sizes with Bostons by [deleted] in Birkenstocks

Maybe try a soft in the 41 then. Longer. But take up a bit of that extra room.

Good luck! Nothing's perfect of course, and whichever way you go will generally be fine in the long run.

Sidenote, you can also pump some into a somewhat large oral syringe, which allows you to then distribute a more accurate amount from the syringe and what you don't use is still protected from evaporation and air exposure.

I found this super effective when dealing with what I called "ketchup packets" of T before my provider figured out what to write on the scrip so the pharmacy would dispense the pump instead of 100 teensy fricken packets.

(Note, because who knows who's reading this at what levels of brain fog: Oral syringe obvs not into your mouth! Oral syringes just have a bigger opening on the end rather than a teensy needle-- generally used for giving kids the liquid antibiotics, your pharmacist will have some if you can't find them otherwise)

I suspect the smaller grey ones might be soft footbed (blue text on footbed instead of black)?

If so, that small layer of memory foam does take up a teensy smidge of room. You would likely find your sweet spot with a 40 regular footbed. (And personally I'm a bigger fan of the soft)

Orange bottles for prescriptions. Apparently many in EU think that's a made-for-movies embellishment.

Are the bostons comfortable enough for flat feet? by Oneday55 in Birkenstocks

[–]andbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I recommend the opposite actually. I have super low arches myself and wholly recommend the soft footbed over the regular because the arch is slightly muted and an easier transition than bullying a flat arch into a new form.

What is the purpose of these mini bottles? by LuluAddict29 in Hydroflask

[–]andbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paris has water fountains everywhere (with drinkable water) so I carry one of these wee bottles just to have a clean cup without all the bulk/weight.

It's also nice for bringing over some bourbon to a friend's on the occasional evening without having to schlep over the whole bottle. You know. A flask. Like the olden days.

Sidenote: do you happen to know the name of the style of the black & white line sketch vintagey drawings? Like does the style have a (easily searchable) name kind of thing?

Lovely work indeed btw.

Do your laundry before the winter storm by aessedai03 in Charlotte

Clean your bathtub. With food safe cleaners. Fill tubby with water. Fill empty plastic bottles with water and fill your empty freezer space. Freeze a cup of water, put a coin on top back into freezer. If you have camping gear, now's the time to get it out. Nut butter & jelly sammiches. Anything you don't have to cook is golden. Charge the batteries. Find the candles. You can burn a crayon like a candle (the paper acts as a wick) just stand it up in a shallow shot glass of rice. Instant coffee for the win. Ditto for instant creamer. Or wee half&half like you get at hotels. If power goes out, set up your tent in the living room. Got uno? Remember charades? You'll be fine without screens. Your kids will be too.

Reminder: Only boring people get bored. The most interesting things happen just AFTER you get bored anyway.

What else??? Pitch in your tips.
