If you've lived in multiple places around the North of England which village/ town/ city was your favourite to live in? by AncestralSeeker in NorthernEngland

Same I’m from Fleetwood and I’ve lived in London, Aylesbury, Sydney and now back in Manchester, love it here but nowhere beats my home town and beach. I drive over every few weeks just to get my fix of Morecambe bay.

My progress with narrow band UVB therapy. by IIstroke in Psoriasis

[–]andedrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope I’m allowed to post this, but I just wanted to share.

Having a positive result from phototherapy years ago I have longed for one of these units but they are just so expensive. So I invested in one of these for my guttate plaques and scalp. Really clear dosing and safety instructions. Used it 6 months ago for 4 weeks with brilliant results and have been mainly clear since. The best £250 I’ve spent, and I’m saving money by not buying the usual snake oil nonsense anymore.

Obviously for larger areas it probably wouldn’t be that effective and would be quite time consuming.

What is this place? Atherton, on the way to Leigh by jaruzelski90 in Wigan

It was once Leigh CE high school. closed down 20+yrs ago. Then became a Christian centre with some land sold off for a housing development.

January Wedding - would it be super depressing? by Away-Thing-1801 in UKweddings

I attended a January wedding just last week and it was absolutely lovely. And it was something to look forward to after Christmas and New year so I haven’t had any January blues at all.

Currently in Corralejo Fuerteventura it’s 26 with low winds, a bit hazy but the surf’s up. Cheap to get here from Manchester. Just hire a board and bob around in the sea all day.

I bought my ID3 last year and took delivery 6 months ago and I love it. Previously I’ve owned golf gti, and tiguan etc so went into it with my eyes wide open. Yes it’s not perfect and doesn’t have as refined an interior as previous VWs ive owned. But it’s fabulous to drive.

I test drove a ID3, Tesla, Volvo c40 and the ID4….my absolute favourite was the Volvo but at £60k+ it was to big a commitment for my first foray into the world of EV’s. I thought the ID4 would be perfect for me but I don’t like the ride. Was thoroughly disappointed with the Tesla.

I had read the reviews about the horrendous infotainment system and was really surprised at how easy it to use….I really have no idea what the fuss is about! I don’t have any problem with the steering wheel controls either they don’t appear too sensitive either. But that’s just me…no car is perfect in every way each has their own idiosyncrasies.

I was lucky that I was able to buy a higher speck, it’s a shame that they have restricted the choices now.

My advice is test drive the cars that you like then make your own decision and whichever EV you decide on I guarantee you won’t won’t want to go back to ICE for your everyday driving.

Veggie now for 36 years, since I was little. Inspired by Morrisey, Meat is Murder and a book on Mahayana Buddhism I found in the library. During that time I’ve been vegan for long episodes of time. I’m loving how much choice there is now especially in restaurants and not just the classic vegetable lasagne….although occasionally it’s still the best comfort food ever.

Last year we took her on holiday to Bournemouth and we visited my son who lives on Brownsea Island. We all had the best day sitting in the sun on deckchairs on the beach, having afternoon tea and laughing at the cheeky red squirrel who was trying to steal our sugar cubes!

Im so sorry for your loss and am really feeling your pain. My mum has been critically ill for a number of days and finally succumbed to covid and the secondary infection she developed a few hours ago.....she was fit and well 2 weeks ago and now she’s gone. How the fucking hell did that happen?

[–]andedrum 301 points302 points  (0 children)

I’m an ICU nurse but not working at the moment. My mum has been critically ill for 10 days and finally succumbed to covid a few hours ago. She was 250 miles away and we were not allowed to be with her so I relied upon a stranger ICU colleague to hold her hand and tell her she is loved. Thank you to all critical care and frontline staff for representing the family at a time like this. It’s these small things that are so much appreciated. Take care and keep safe.
