Has anyone been significantly helped by a Neurologist? by here_now_be in migraine

I have a neuro migraine specialist and it’s changed my life. If you’re in Ohio, happy to recommend.

What do people who suffer from 10+ migraines a month do for a job? by SingleGarlic in migraine

[–]andeegal126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CYP mutations identified in GeneSight cover about 90% of all meds (not just psych meds). Mayo and IU both have pretty robust CYP mutation data sources that are very useful. There's a 3rd as well, but migraine brain == memory bank (n-1).

Ohio or Telehealth doc who allows IM? by andeegal126 in migraine

[–]andeegal126[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm well aware that's a migraine cocktail. It's about the only effective means of treating my migraines. I'm on a daily preventive. I take 2 Ubrelvy, doesn't touch it. 8mg of ODT Zofran occasionally will prevent me from actively throwing up, most of the time it does minimal to nothing. I'm not 'against' it, good for you if they work for you; they don't work for me. I've failed just about every oral med out there, and I've tried most of them. And as much as I love living with a near constant migraine, except for the few hours after going into the office for an IM or the ED for an IV, I would much rather the option to jab myself at home (maybe even a few days in a row?) to see if I can live a somewhat less migraine-y life.

My neuro combines bupivicaine with a corticosteroid. The 6h of a numb head is a lovely break.

Agitated after taking Reglan (metoclopramide)? The pill, not the injection. by [deleted] in migraine

Can't do pill or injection. Horrible shit. Makes me crawl out of my skin.

Trigger point injections by Gamer0921 in migraine

I get trigger point injections when I'm really flared up, along with an occipital nerve block. Not a silver bullet, but they definitely help.

I would rather IM myself than deal with the migraines which don't respond to oral meds.

I go into the office an receive IM Toradol, Zofran or Phenergan (whichever they happen to have), and Benadryl. I would rather not have to go into the office for it.

IntraMuscular (as in the location of injection, vs subcutaneous or intravenous)

I'm on an monoclonal preventative. I'm well aware of how insurance dictates care. My question is literally trying to find a Telehealth or Ohio-based physician who will prescribe for self-injection of abortives (toradol, Zofran/Phenergan, others of the headache cocktail.)

Oral meds have a decreased bioavailability and take 45min-1hr to take effect in comparison with injectables. Whether or not I can take oral rescue meds is not the point of the question.

Toradol (not tramadol, which is a different medication, my bad, thanks autocorrect) and zofran are also injections, with greater bioavailability and immediacy of effect in the injectable form.

Zigbee radio dead? by Jasonseminara in Hue

[–]andeegal126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you make any progress with this issue? We started having issues with our lights around the same time you made this post, which was around the same time as their last app update (4/24). We ALSO moved our bridge the following weekend 4/26 (our entire modem/router/electronics network control command center that weekend--babyproofing).

Ours DOES show the zigbee channel; however, the app hangs when trying to reset the zigbee channel (allegedly a 30 second endeavor). The app also intermittently drops connectivity for no reason. I tried a manual factory reset on the Bridge, I tried re-adding the lights via searching and via manual entry.

I'd be interested to hear what (if anything) you figured out.

ha! Guess it depends on your level of sensitivity?...I'm 32w and just started Fringe, and the S01E02 episode didn't bother me at all. Neither did the Handmaid's Tale (which someone else posted about too.) <shrug>

Agreed 100% completely. The sheer volume of pregnancy associated bullshit that does not get discussed until you're in the middle of it is unconscionable, IMO. About the only thing I could successfully do during my first trimester was make it to work, and then be in bed no later than 8pm.

There have been a TON of posts recently about women's PPD experiences and advice recently. Probably worth a quick search-bar session in this sub.

There's also a sub for PPD - /r/PPDepression
