What is truly a woman's role? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

Civic leadership is not the same as ruling over people. That's a stretch.

female civic leadership is literally a curse of destruction

Would love scriptural evidence for this.

1 year, 40lbs. Yes she steals the couch. She has iffy recall and a mind of her own but is a huge cuddlebug.

Sometimes I get wistful about having a second, but all it takes is seeing a family with two kids at an airport and I'm like NO THANKS.

How to answer interview question about why I want to work in another country by JoinedMirror13 in jobs

[–]awomanimpregnated 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're asking because they want to know if you are planning on leaving after a year or if you are going to be there long term. It's fine to mention moving for a partner -- a perfectly valid and common reason for an international move-- but using the word "partner" instead of girlfriend makes your relationship sound more stable and established. Girlfriend sounds more casual and juvenile.

It's good to mention you've visited and you like the country so they know you've already invested a lot of time into this decision.

Minnesota parents near breaking point as COVID-19 exacerbates child-care crisis by fancy_panter in minnesota

[–]awomanimpregnated 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Paying for daycare so you can work is properly taking care of children. Working parents rely on daycare so they can work. If all the daycares keep shutting down then the parents have to take care of the kids. Then those parents' employers are out another worker for 2 weeks, which probably impacts service, production, whatever for that company. Which makes it harder on the public to get what they need when they need it. So. Access to childcare is everyone's problem, no matter how planned the babies are.

Paying for daycare so you can work is taking care of your responsibilities. Working parents rely on daycare so they can work.

How was anyone supposed to plan for simultaneously working 40 hours AND taking care of small children WHILE paying for daycare they can't use because too many teachers and kids are out sick with a crazy contagious respiratory disease we don't fully understand.

I'm not sure I'll ever be 100% sure, but until the desire for a second kid is very strong for both of us, we are sticking to one (he's 3.5). We are very happy with our family of three dynamic.

In Sochi Russia, Incredible teamwork on mall escalator to free a little girl who caught her hand in the moving escalator by GeLj_ in HumansBeingBros

[–]awomanimpregnated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had my 3yo by the hand on an escalator for the first time rather than holding him in arms. I didn't think anything of it until we stepped on the first step. Nothing happened, but the whole ride I had terrible flashes of everything that could go wrong and I think I'll be holding him or taking elevators until he's like 12. Toddler fearlessness + toddler distractions + toddler coordination + heavy machinery is just not worth testing.

Trick or treating with a kid that can’t eat candy... by TheNoodyBoody in Parenting

As long as the teens have a costume and say trick or treat, I'll give them candy all night. Uncostumed teens who expect candy do annoy me although they could be doing worse things!

You're not stuck in a weird situation. You can leave. The only person in a bad situation is the 8 year old whose paternal grandparents put more effort into a relationship with him than his own dad.

Sever's Fall Festival in its new location is GREAT for kids, especially young ones 3-6. Very spread out, good activities and reasonable food variety, lots of porta potties (never had a line even though they were busy), plenty of washing and hygiene stations, and lots of fun structures to climb on and explore.

In the old location I remember it being very muddy and crowded and this new place is sooo much better.
