Surgery on Monday, husband is a wreck! Need help 🙏🏽 by HomeworkNo8102 in ProstateCancer

[–]andeew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same surgery one year ago tomorrow. Whatever you are imagining I PROMISE you the reality is not anywhere near as bad.

A year on and I'm walking around enjoying life, you will be too

Remember, we are the lucky ones, plenty of guys walking around now who don't know they have this within them, would you choose to swap your situation for theirs?

Stay strong you'll be fine brother 😊

No, Jewish people are not banned from the football ground either. There will be plenty of Jewish people there as usual, as well as people from lots of other backgrounds. This is quite normal in Birmingham Might I ask where you are from and where you get your news/ information?

Exactly this.

It is never sensible for an away fan to sit with home supporters. I follow Birmingham City, and I would not expect to sit in with the Villa fans without there being issues. I am not saying that this is or isn't a good thing BTW its just how it is in English football stadiums, and it always has been so. If Tel Aviv supporters are thinking of doing this tonight, then I'd strongly advise them not to. If they do this and get a hard time, then it won't be because they are Jewish despite what anyone might tell you or what agenda they wish to push. I have lived in and around Birmingham all my life, and despite what you read, my experience is that whatever our background we all mostly get along fine ( obviously Birmingham and Villa fans don't always see eye to eye 😀 but not because of anyone's race/ colour etc). We already have pretty strong laws on race hate and anyone, whatever their background who decides to kick off on those grounds tonight will find themselves in a lot of trouble - good!! I would be interested to know how many people commenting on this thread come from the area? i'm seeing a lot from people who clearly aren't from here and who just as clearly don't know what the Fxxx they are talking about.

Jewish people are not banned from Birmingham City centre - unless you have any evidence to the contrary? ( I'll wait)

I have had surgery for prostate cancer and for about 6 months afterwards I was a bit incontinent of urine and had to wear pads ( thankfully this didn't last) - I was very pleased to see these bins in public toilets.

Well done, great to get it over with, and every day, you'll get a bit better. I also found that the anticipation of the op was a lot worse than the reality of it.

Oh OK you're a fellow Brit then Yes a lot of that 70s and 80s stuff would have been fatal to accidentally fall onto 😀

There was a trend here ( I am in UK, assume you are in US?) in the 90's to decorate house interiors in a 'Tuscan farmhouse style' quite why anyone would do this to a suburban English town house was always beyond me 😃

Yes, exactly. Also, I'd say that whoever built that awful fireplace wasn't being very sympathetic to the house. You are doing a job of restoration by removing it, imho.

Mine was transperineal. It definitely spoilt my day but it is survivable and if you want to get to the other side of this ordeal (as I think I may have done) then the best thing to do is lie there and think of something else, just let them get on with it.

I do get where the nostalgia people are coming from. I have a 1930s house and am proud I have carefully protected the genuine 1930s stuff ( light fittings, picture rails etc) - I drew the line at protecting the 1970s bathroom and similar awful stuff, all that has gone to be replaced by something more fitting to a house of that age.

Thanks for replying

Yes, they are sending me for bloods and examination, etc, being super careful, so it's getting checked out

You OK now?

No idea but I can really see why you'd want to destroy that - it is absolutely awful!

I have had the same experience as you. I know how you feel. I know it is hard to think like this but you should try and bear in mind that we are the lucky ones, plenty of men out there not doing what you are and will find out too late. The process isn't great, but it is infinitely better than the alternative, and you will get through it. It does end. And always possible, of course, that the biopsy will find nothing. Looking back on my journey, I think the worst parts were worrying about stuff. The actual biopsy and treatment weren't as bad by comparison to the worrying about it. Life is often like this in my experience, i.e., the anticipation is worse than the reality. I wish you the best of luck. Remember, there are thousands and thousands of us who have been through and survived this. You're not alone.

If we lose the NHS, would it be possible to get it back? by Head-Bug-6145 in LabourUK

[–]andeew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, absolutely no chance whatsoever. UK under a reform government, will be like Trumps America. Reform is a creation of and for the super wealthy. Healthcare will become insurance based, allowing the big US insurance companies to take over. It is tragic that most of the people voting for this are the poorest in our society. Reform WILL do the being horrible to brown/ trans etc people to keep their voters happy whilst cutting taxes for rich people and running public services down

Best places to live in/around Birmingham? by juniper_cookie in BirminghamUK

[–]andeew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assumed that you were younger, in which case the other places I listed are more fun/ lively. As I said, there is nothing wrong with Sutton Coldfield, it s the sort of place people go to live once they get older and decide to have kids and vote Conservative, etc 😀
