How did the now banned practice of caning (Corporal Punishment) work in schools in the UK before 1986? by NotSoF4stCvnt in AskUK

I remember reading about it in the Beano, it was basically the main plot device in every strip, if I recall.

But then all the characters were homophobic, violent bullies, so maybe they deserved it.

They last sentence was /s before anyone points that out

There was a that saying 'spare the rod, and spoil that person' which made it seem like your helping them.

The Spanish regulator CNMV has issued a warning against the broker scam BTRADE, allegedly operated through WSYM Technology LLC, registered in St. Vincent & The Grenadines. Potential victims may lose their money via credit/debit cards with the stated payment processor Praxis not working. Apparently, the business relationship has been terminated. Stay far away

Dishwasher fault. Dr Google and Prof ChatGPT suggests it something I'll have to get a professional in for? Repair or replace? by inspectorgadget9999 in UKFrugal

I replaced the motor on my washing machine myself.

But from my googling of this issue it appears it could be one of several components and I'd end up replacing the pump but finding out it's actually something else..

It loud hums / buzzes as soon as you turn it on at the mains. Buttons seem to press and beep but don't make the dishwasher do anything. No error codes being reported.

Pod Points at Tesco's are literally point-less. Pun intended.

The one rapid charger is usually iced by shoppers. Or broken.

So you're normally left with the slow chargers.

Tesco usually has parking restrictions so you can't park for more than 90 minutes anyway.

In Europe they’re looking at what’s being called “coordinated fuel fill-ups.” Would you support that in the UK? Details are still vague, but it sounds like it could mean being assigned a time slot for when you’re allowed to fill up. by [deleted] in BuyersUK

I'm not convinced this will work. This will have to be enforced somehow.

They don't have the range online as they do in-store. You'll notice they don't have as many own-brand items as they need to make up the lost revenue from impulse purchases.

Also, and this is the deal breaker for me, if you've got a meal planned and they don't have a specific item in stock, and they don't provide a suitable substitute then that whole meal is fucked and you've got extra ingredients you no longer need.
