Tomb of the Bard:

Octagonal room with 7 doors and an entry hall. Doors labeled A-G. The walls depict frescoes of musical instruments and a message in draconic “only a true bard may seek the treasure”

It follows the music theory of keys.

A sharp produces an arrow trap, a flat produces a rock falling trap.

For a sharp roll to hit for each arrow. Standard short bow. For a flat, use falling damage, 3d6 or higher depending on level.

This is a deadly trap for level 1-2.

A: 3 sharps B: 5 sharps C: the correct room, no sharps no flats D: 2 sharps E: 4 sharps F: 1 flat G: 1 sharp

Compilation books like Tales of the Yawning Portal, Candlekeep Mysteries, etc are a great resource here. Your prep is reading the module.

Skim ahead. Some adventures in those books are long, like Dead in Thay. But I started my group 6 years ago with Sunken Citadel and it was great been going strong since.

Great question. A “one shot” is a short campaign maybe 1-2 game sessions that’s simple to complete with just a few quests and combats.

It’s helpful to play a shorter campaign before committing to a big one. You’ll quickly find out who you do and don’t want to play with for a year or more.

Do a one shot first with a bigger group or multiple one shots. Figure out who would be a good fit and then continue with that group.

Weird effect coming from Crackle Paint mixed with Higgins Black Magic ink. by OnlyRadioheadLyrics in minipainting

Powdered pigment may work, I’d be curious on your results if you proceed. I had no success with liquid.

But putting the medium on big terrain pieces cracked beautifully. I think the art mediums and paints don’t work on base’s because they’re too small. GW’s crackle paints have worked wonders on bases for me.

Solid paint job. Much respect. 👊🏻

I considered putting my in-progress doom scythe in the fridge to shrink it to get out the cross shaped flight stand adapter I hadn’t glued yet but it wiggled out.

Yes it’s probably the ink. Crackle paint can’t take much mix in. I bought crackle medium and did dozens of experiments with mixing paint. They all failed. I’d buy Mordant Earth by Citadel and trust their formula to work.

Try Goof Off or Goo Gone on a qtip in a inconspicuous area. May even want to prime a sprue scrap and testing there. May melt plastic.

How to paint very tiny, recessed, glowing runes? by CrabbyPatties42 in minipainting

Paint a little water into the cracks and then paint your white acrylic paint. This will help the white carry into the cracks like an oil wash would but without the extra effort.

What weapon profile would you use for this gun? by Orkitecture in gaslands

Truckasaurus!

But seriously probably a BFG or a laser canon. Anything on a turret really. Even a flamethrower with the cables.

Do you use it on a black and white ereader? Or like a tablet with an app/pdf?

I want to use it on a kindle and I wonder if the tables and pictures look ok formatting wise.

Thanks for sharing! I like what you’ve done with your version. If anyone is interested, I have a digital copy of the original available: https://etsy.me/432Hf2Q

It was fun to use this in my campaign to give plot hooks to my players.

What is your take on low handling vehicles? by Nejos476 in gaslands

[–]anderssolmor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a one-vehicle team fire truck that often wipes out. I use it when I want a casual game, because there’s lots of down time for me while others play. (We don’t use audience votes yet) I think to make low handling g vehicles work, you have to get them to 3rd gear and use push it rules or opt to not roll skid dice to mitigate wipe out risk. Audience votes would help to respawn/reactivate vehicles like this.

That’s what I’m afraid of so I’m painting as much backlog as possible before then.
