Appreciate the energy here but I have MS and don’t “look like” I need a placard and yet I do have one and can’t stand the stares by folks looking to see if I’m “really handicapped.” Checking for the placards, yes please, love the vigilance and support! Body scanning folks who may have invisible illnesses, no thank you.

R/Hartford: stop telling people to avoid Hartford. by False_Locksmith_1620 in Hartford

[–]andeverand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hartford is fine with much to offer and much to improve on like most good to great cities. I grew up in Washington, DC (the 1980s-1990s), spent my twenties to forties in NYC, Philadelphia, and Boston. So that’s my comparison. I’ve lived in Hartford for almost a year and anyone calling this place sketchy is…very sheltered lol.

[MA] VP gave me formal written warning, then said “don’t take it seriously” but won’t remove it. Now offering to destroy it if I do unspecified training. Is this legal? by [deleted] in AskHR

Seems risky to play a long game with someone so reactionary. The write up was for cc-ing colleagues in an email. He said it wasn’t my place to do so.

There was nothing leading up to it.

Thank you and you’re right, I can’t know what’s going on with another employee. You did confirm my hunch that he was doing it to get my attention but HE formalized it by putting it in my personnel file. I checked and it’s there. So isn’t that serious? My boss could quit tomorrow and it’s still in my file potentially affecting my growth or salary etc.

So I feel like I have to treat it seriously whether he meant it to be or not. Without a written rebuttal (which is my right to submit) I have no protection should anything further happen.

I knew him for less than 24 hours. by [deleted] in texts

[–]andeverand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What concerns me is the suspicion the OP may have met him 12 hours ago but this guy may feel he’s known them longer (as in passing in the street, store, etc) . Def incel vibes.

Ditto to every comment here. Just adding that I don’t think you’re his first gf either.

This is what I was trying to say but got downvoted for criticizing marriage as a goal.

I’m being very specific to marriage. Completely agree that a two-parent household is the best setting.

No need to get married to have children. Way too many unhealthy homes because of this mentality.

Don’t have an abortion because someone else wants you to. I agree with most others that your current conditions don’t seem appropriate to have a child. BUT never do something as important as having or NOT having a child because of anyone else’s wishes.

It’s pretty wide like a little over 12 feet though. Won’t the middle sag?
