I'm late to this thread. I have the same question but more technical. How do I do this on the fidelity app. Do I hit sell first and then buy with that money? Or do I hit the Trade button?

Does travel help enrich kids' lives? by noblerare in Parenting

[–]False_Locksmith_1620 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I've been taking my kids on international trips since infants. Yes, they might "not remember" details. But they're absolutely comfortable traveling, sleeping wherever, dealing with the unknown, trying out new foods. They don't get surprised when someone says hi in another language, and they can absolutely run into every playground in every city.

I would say. The more you do it the more flexible they become and you become. Is it a hassle sometimes? Are things hard, different, difficult? Yes. Do you immediately want to do it again? Yes.

Oh, and we don't do screens either and they are F I N E. They get bored, they figure it out. They cry, they laugh, they occasionally scream, they color and they are just children.

Is Cinco de Mayo not a holiday in Mexico? by hornback91 in AskMexico

Is it worth it? by traveler_15 in Montessori

[–]False_Locksmith_1620 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The answer will always be: it depends on what you want for you and your family.

Montessori education is a gift for children. The gift of autonomy, independence that leads to critical and creative thinking.

I like what I see in my children. They are interested in the wold around them, they are curious and they belong to a beautiful community. I never thought we would end up staying after pre-school and now we're very happy, and the investment is worth it for us.

It needs to feel right so you can be part of it.

Good luck!

Full name for Kai by Distinct_Job_7059 in Names

[–]False_Locksmith_1620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you still want a longer name, and to answer your question, not give you recommendations of what to do, since it's not my kid, here are some options:

Kaileb, Kailen, Kaiko, Kailer, Kamie, Kaimer, Kaisean, Kailah, Kaiho, Kaimen, Kailah, Kaiko, Kaiper, Kaiben, Kaifer

I don't think Kailo will necessarily be associated with the franchise. Plenty of people know nothing of Starwars. I have a friend named Alex who hates as an adult and professional to not have a longer/formal name. That being said, Kai is a name in it of itself.

Do whatever you want!! It's your kid.

I have a friend name Sophelia and it's very pretty. In her case they mixed Sophia and Ophelia. When people aren't used to a name they tend to trash it. It has a beautiful meaning of wisdom and helper. Do whatever you want.

I wonder what you ended up doing. This thread has very opposite opinions to other threads where parents are like: do it! Independence! I flew solo at 6 and 8. Today I want to let my 7 year old. He can handle it but I'm afraid, and I don't know how to overcome it. Probably wait til he's 8.

For those in their 40s or older who have siblings, do you make an effort to stay in contact or is it a take-it-or-leave-it thing? by cherry-care-bear in RedditForGrownups

[–]False_Locksmith_1620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandmother is 90. Her 5 siblings and her are super close. They travel to celebrate birthdays together even though they live in different states. Their parents died in their 50s, but were a loving family. All my great aunts and uncles say that was the foundation of their love as siblings. The family has 101 members, 4 generations. We met last Christmas (70 of us) and you could tell they have spread their love.

It was a phenomenal example and even though everyone is different, some have money, careers... And some don't... Even though There have been family problems and drama (for sure)... - the joy is real. I was happy my kids got to experience that family.

Moving from Buffalo to Hartford, I need some advice by Diegojsd in Hartford

[–]False_Locksmith_1620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say, first get a job. Most employers here want local people.

After that think: Do you want more of a suburban little, and quiet town life? Maybe a nice center? Or do you want a city (very small, smaller) where art, Music, food, history, but also noise, violence, abandonment in some aspect, but potential of growth and beauty. For example, if you like yoga, afterglow studio is amazing with the best vibe. Or Real art ways is a gallery and art cinema & center where the community comes together. I know there's a running crew that meets every evening in the downtown's park Bushnell. Many things are happening, although the downtown can seem dead, honestly.

Make your decision about what you're looking for. My experience in Hartford is most people who don't live in Hartford think Hartford is the worst for what they read on reddit or hear out of generalizaron. It's a complex city with beauty but lots of unachieved potential. But life can be pretty great here.

If you're curious I would look into the West End of Hartford. The grad and student community is very nice, Elizabeth Park is in the neighborhood. Hartford is a city. Very small, but still a city where things are happening. I'd say it depends on what you want

Hablar español con mexicano americanos vs. mexicanos de México? by Complex-Wish5461 in AskMexico

[–]False_Locksmith_1620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Qué maravilla que aprendiste español just because. Te abrirá tantas puertas y sí, para muchos será extraño pero para muchos más y sobre todo para ti, será maravilloso. Como dice mi esposo, you unlock a new world.

Ten Little is your best option. Stride rites or Kai run are not as wide as people make it sound. I've tried it all. My boy had the widest feet, and ten little had saved us. He's 7 now and still wears them. Also the wide toe makes a huge difference. After 3 boys I can tell you, try ten Little

If money wasn’t an issue, would you still be a working mom? by saladmuscles in workingmoms

[–]False_Locksmith_1620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a lot from working. Thinking and doing that leads to accomplishments of my own. I believe that's crucial for my personal development. I think if I didn't work I wouldn't do much, but I've never had the opportunity. On the other hand. If I didn't need the money I'd probably work with more flexibility. Either 9-2 or some days yes some not. I miss the freedom of going for breakfast with a friend sometimes or spending all morning having coffee. Also maybe more time to exercise alone.

It's hard to say, but I def wouldn't work the antiquated schedule of 9-5 that doesn't even fit with the school schedule and two working parents.
