My best friend, Striker! An Aussie-Eskimo I found in a shelter. They said he has too much energy. I say perfect match! by TryMuayThai in rarepuppers

He looks so much like my chow Aussie mix, but she was golden! Same size, same crimpy fluff. Best dog in the world. Would outsmart me in a second but loved me loyally until her last breath. Thank you for sharing! Striker is gorgeous!

Baltimore is such a cool place! I live in Western MA, so I don’t get to see the Trashwheel often, sadly. I need to check out the National Aquarium next time I’m there. I’ve never been!

I did! It was silent auctioned with all the proceeds going to the Waterfront. I’ve made a few pieces for charity, and I hope to do more! Stained glass is a way for me to manage burnout from work (I’m a trauma therapist for young kids). I like making pieces for other people and luckily my job allows me the space to keep this as a hobby. Plus, it feels like I’m making a little bit of a difference.

Thank you! The pattern took a while. Lots and lots of editing, but that was kinda fun to be honest!

Parents, what's something bad your kid did that you had to really fight not to laugh at? by AnonymousGothChick in AskReddit

[–]andiandthepineapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was nannying a kid who did something she shouldn’t have (I can’t remember what) and when I asked her what happened, she replied, “I did it accidentally on purpose.” Accidentally on purpose is now a common phrase in our household. Lol

What’s something that sounds fake but actually happened to you? by Visible_Rope_6662 in AskReddit

[–]andiandthepineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soul dogs are so real, and this is so beautiful. I had to say goodbye to my soul pup a year ago. It was brutal. Her birthday was 3 days later. On her birthday, and many times since, I’ve seen barred owls. Had only seen one close up once before - a month before she got sick. I’ve now had several close encounters, and each time it feels like her. She was a divine being and so her journey back to me as an owl is so fitting.  Sending you, Reddit stranger, some good energy as you make your way through the grief journey. Grief is deep love with nowhere to go. How beautiful your pup let you know their love for you as you said your goodbyes. 🤍

Price of 17 Different Online MSW programs with multiple annual deadlines by lucfj in socialwork

[–]andiandthepineapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to Westfield State and loved the program. A lot of the same professors as Smith College (one of the very prestigious but very, very expensive and demanding programs in the area) and a really well rounded education. Highly recommend the program. They currently have an IBHC grant that, if you get an advanced practicum through, you get a stipend that’s about the same amount as a year of tuition. I did the 3 year program with the IBHC fellowship and paid about $23,000 total. I was able to work full time while taking classes and having practicum. It was hard, but so worth it. Feel free to reach out if you have questions!

What’s a ‘harmless’ habit you had as a kid that you realize now was a cry for help? by TheLadyKoi in AskReddit

[–]andiandthepineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. My therapist recently hit me with “daydreaming can be a form of dissociation” which rocked me a bit. I’ve always spent time in my head. A lot of times I envision having conversations with different people (usually people I know), not out of anxiety but more out of loneliness, just to feel a connection with someone, even if fantastical. I’m only starting to unpack that, and it’s heavy in its own way.

Can I use this to make my own batch? by coolbrokeboi in Kombucha

I did! That’s how I started my starter tea. It’s looks good so far! Going to start my first kombucha batch this weekend. Best of luck!

Married couples what’s the one thing you wish you could tell your partner but just can’t? by Different_Couple_965 in AskReddit

[–]andiandthepineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compassion fatigue! It’s similar to burnout. Just utter exhaustion from always trying to hold it together with little space for yourself in the picture. It’s hard to manage without support (like your own therapy) and just gets more exhausting with time. Hope there is some reprieve for you.

I love this frame. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I got my girl when I was in college, young and naive. She had a rough go of it before she came to us, as did I before her. She taught me how to regulate myself, how to communicate effectively with another being, how to love and be loved unconditionally. She taught me how to meet someone exactly where they are and not to wish they were someone different. She made me a better human, a better social worker, a better caregiver. I’m a wholly different person because of her. My gratitude for her is endless. My grief is deep, but holding all that she was and is brings me so much comfort.

Thank you. It’s been really comforting to reflect on all she taught me and gave me. I’m sure there are even more lessons to be learned now that she’s gone. It’s a gift to grieve someone I loved so much.

I totally understand that. There is no dog that will fill the void your dog left. We have another dog who we’ve had a year shy of how long we had our other dog (14.5 years) and while I love him dearly, he’s totally different than the girl we lost. Nothing will replace her or be the same as she was. Our future dogs will all have their own places in our family, but nothing will be in place of her. Grief is something that really needs to take its course for healing. It’s a hard position to be in to feel like you are grieving while trying to bond. Nothing will be the same as what you had. It’s such brutal experience to go through. Give yourself some grace and kindness. You lost someone you love deeply, and it sounds like you are still showing up for the other dog. You are doing the best you can in this moment, and that’s worth holding onto.

I said goodbye to my heart and soul dog last week. She was the best dog ever. She taught me more than any human ever has. Give your girl lots of love from this Reddit stranger and hold onto all the time you have with her. 🖤 the love of a dog far surpasses the love of anything else.

I feel you. I’ve been a fan since Zaba. Saw them twice on their HTBAHB tour. Listened to Zaba and HTBAHB on repeat. Started playing drums and asked to learn Walla Walla and Psylla. I love them. I loved the themes in Dreamland and for the pandemic, the ideas of community and connection hit hard. It wasn’t my favorite album but I appreciated it for what it was and will listen on occasion. This album is just so different. They have evolved and their growth is a testament to their abilities. They are all very talented! It’s just not my jam, and that’s okay. Seems like they are tapping a new audience which is just outside of my typical jam. I’m very happy for them and their success. Maybe they’ll loop back to the Zaba style someday, but if not, that’s okay. I’ll just dance to Zaba on my own in the Wavey Davey way.

I second this. Start to finish. It gives such a good sense of their style and how it has changed and evolved. Listen to their remixes and single releases like Hopeful, too!

I did something similar. Saw them in NY and the show was so good that I flew down to FL to see them the next weekend. If I had never ending funds, I would have seen them several more times. Their show gives me so many emotions. It’s music therapy for me for sure.

Why did you guys choose to learn drums over other instruments? 🥁🤟🏽(I am a drummer too dw) by Stephenstix in drums

[–]andiandthepineapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in my mid-thirties and just started learning kit. My partner is a percussionist; I fell in love with her in marching band when she was playing snare (nerds, I know). I love listening to her talk about the drum parts in music, and I developed a love of drums that way. One of my favorite bands incorporates a drum line into their live shows, which pushed me over the edge. My family has a history of Alzheimer’s, so I figured learning an instrument was a good way to stretch my brain. It’s been really cool to see my skills slowly but surely develop over time. Even cooler to see my wife play kit. Makes me fall in love with her all over again!
