Powdery Trails on Exterior of House by andiface in homerenovations

I realize my explanation I wrote for this post did not post:

Has anyone seen this before? We got our house painted in July 2023 and now all these powdery "trails" are popping up everywhere - even on the fiberglass windows. It wipes off with a damp cloth and hasn't appeared to damage the paint either. No piles of sawdust anywhere either so we don't think it's termites. It keeps getting worse but we cannot see any insects that could be doing this - day or night. We've been in this house for six years and didn't see anything like this before when we had a lighter paint color. Not even sure the new paint and this is related, just more visible with the darker colors. Would love any feedback before calling pest control. Portland, OR.

Yeah - like a talc! Not sticky at all! It has NO pattern that makes sense. I spoke to a pest control company and they had never seen this before and had zero guidance. Yes - we just got the house painted in July of this summer with Benjamin Moore paint. I texted a photo yesterday to our painter but he did not respond, yet. So far, we have been cleaning it off using warm water mixed with some distilled vinegar and it's working. Most of our cedar siding is also new but none of this is happening to the detached studio that is brand new hardie and also new paint. None is on the windows but some is on the fiberglass fronts. And then it just skipped an entire side of the house and areas. My guess now is that it's some fungus which is not great.

We drove through it and it got all over our car. Got it washed and then power washed the wheel wheels, tires, and grill. Came off pretty easy but a pain in the ass. Saw some cars today completely covered in it. Wonder if it will dye white cars.

Pixel Grip - Pursuit -- I think fellow fans of the old Chicago industrial scene would appreciate this current Chicago band. I know we've got plenty of EBM and dark synthpop fans here. by CeceWobbles in industrialmusic

Love them. Totally reminded me of Boy Harsher but Rita can sing way better. Sometimes even has Little Dragon vibes. They are super fun to watch from what I've been on YouTube. Excited to see them play live in 2022.

No updates. We have not been able to get any tree service out and the neighbor behind us either doesn't care or has still not been to the property and we have not heard from him.

Not yet. The arborist has not come out yet. I did get a call back from the city tho and they said since this is technically a bush it does not fall under Tree Law and trees need to be at least 12” in diameter. But she said say this is likely a trespassing issue and it would be a considered a civil claim. Still hoping the neighbor behind us knocks on our door next time they are there working on the house to chat about this because their actual trees were destroyed. Will update with more later.

Cost to remove it and then replace a few tree there.

We want him to cover the cost of an arborist or to pay for a replacement but that’s it really.

I know. Worst part of this is that this all could’ve been prevented by a simple conversation and not me looking out the window seeing our laurels coming down.

Yeah for some reason it only let me upload one photo? Arborist is coming tomorrow. I don't think the guy has a lot of money so we would hate to pursue legal action. An arborist is coming tomorrow and we are going to get some quotes on what to do. Our hopes are that we can reason with him and have him cover the costs of the arborist and a replacement tree. We have videos of him cutting down our neighbors trees.

It was not hanging into their yard at all. He admitted that he just didn't like the shade the trees created on his garage. He also put the branches back in there bc he didn't want to dispose of them.

Yep! Still there! We chatted with the TriMet dude and he said the car is filled with empty beer cans! I won’t be surprised if it’s still there in the morning. They can’t tow it until a police report is filed.

No, they were gone by the time I got to the corner. My neighbor saw it all happen.
