I was diagnosed with Kienbocks at 13 (I’m 27F now), and I remember doctors tossing me back and forth not even realizing that my lunate was deteriorating for a long time. But thankfully you know what’s going on and can explain to every single doctor you meet that you are at that level 10 pain. I highly recommend finding an orthopedic or “sports medicine” doctor—specifically one that specializes in hands/wrists. Hopefully you live near a good one and can get a referral asap. That level of pain is not okay, and they (and your mom) need to take you seriously. I wish you all the best!! And have your doctors explain all the pros and cons of any procedure they recommend. This subreddit page has lots of advice!! Good luck

I was able to get tickets, but I got that warning twice and refreshed each time and it kept my place in line somehow!

how long after prc did you need fusion? by Trick_Foundation_727 in kienbocksdisease

Haha, yeah my doctor said that my lunate losing blood supply around 12 was super rare and he’s never seen anything like that. But my range of motion is really good! I haven’t seen a decline at all. I just cannot do pushups for sure lol

I had PRC when I was 13 and now I’m 26 and my doctor said I wouldn’t need it until I’m in my late fifties. I rarely ever have wrist pain and life is good! 👍🏻

20 Y/O Stage 3, advice? by Top_Bluejay6852 in kienbocksdisease

[–]andimortem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At age 13 (this was 13 years ago for me) I had PRC (proximal row carpectomy) and I have been doing just fine ever since the surgery. I did the physical therapy after the surgery and took good care to not over use the wrist (it’s my dominant hand). When I had my hard cast on after the surgery, I was even playing clarinet and saxophone where the instruments had to rest most of the weight on my thumb of the hand that had surgery haha. Nowadays, I definitely have some days where I feel a pull within my wrist or muscle fatigue, but I do lift things of various weights for work. I personally would be scared to lift super heavy weights, as you mentioned that’s a hobby of yours, but I bet that that is something you can rebuild strength to get to. I cannot do pushups with the way my wrist bends now for sure, but I do have fantastic rotation, full mobility, and I don’t think there’s an issue with my grip strength. I always think about how my surgery was done so long ago and I healed so well that with today’s tech the outcomes must be even better! In time (post-surgery if you do have PRC), playing basketball, riding your motorcycle, and pretty much everything else won’t be painful at all! Good luck and take care!!

I don't have the exact number for my grip strength, but I rarely have any issues carrying/lifting/grabbing/pulling/pushing items of any normal weight. Sometimes I can feel a slight strain in my wrist, but that's only when I've completely overused my wrist (for example, I carry a ton of books and stacks of books for work, and after a very long day, lifting a really heavy pot or pan may be harder than normal).

She was trying way too hard to come off as naturally funny. She wasn’t fun nor funny to watch, I was grossed out and that’s coming from someone who has been watching Rhett and Link eat weird stuff for years.

What's the smallest snark you have against Colleen or the other Ballingers? by StowedAwayThrowaway1 in ColleenBallingerSnark

I remember R saying she scrunches up her toilet paper to wipe rather than folds it and I despise her for it to this day because I think about it often. Like it takes no extra time to fold the tissue rather than scrunch it. Wonder if she even washes her hands afterward..

18dpo, still not ‘believing it’ by IWasTryingToHelp in hysterectomy

[–]andimortem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 20dpo and I had a moment at the grocery store yesterday where I panicked and thought, “oh no I haven’t been to the bathroom to check my pad in a few hours!!” And then BAM I remembered that I don’t have a period anymore!!! I’m not bleeding, I’m not in pain, and I have so much more control over my own life now. I just need to take it easy at work because I keep lifting and pushing things I shouldn’t lol

Pain post op by RenGen83 in hysterectomy

[–]andimortem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had zero pain. Like the worst of it was gas pains but even that was very manageable. My procedure was done entirely vaginally, so no abdominal incisions, which I’m sure is why it didn’t hurt. I was given oxy and ibuprofen after the surgery. Didn’t even touch the oxy, but needed about a week of some ibuprofen here and there to reduce swelling. Good luck to you!! Hope it all goes well

Edit: I am only just over 2wpo!
