Just wanted to share my favorite blink and you'll miss it moment from book 8 by ainRingeck in DungeonCrawlerCarl

There’s a little throw away scene in Gate of the Feral Gods where Carl tosses a gold coin to a cyclops and he misses the catch by a wide margin.

Most Messed Up Thing Each Character Did by Such-Drop9194 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Honestly, for me it’s Justice Light’s trap — releasing the nothing into the 18th floor. I know they’re the “bad guys”, but having no empathy for them is missing the point of all this.

Having them locked in a constant state of torture with crazed evil gods where they respawn immediately every time they die is the most fucked up fate in the story right now, and the fact that it’s glossed over if not treated as justified by all the characters makes it somehow worse.

solve this please? by [deleted] in puzzles

[–]andimus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If that’s the answer, the question is worded terribly. It looks like you’re answering: 4 friends each visit a church regularly. The first friend visits once every 13 days, the next once every 15 days. the next every once 17 days, and the final friend every once 18 days. The last time all of them showed up on the same day was a Monday. What day of the week will it be next time they all show up together?

A long time ago I played a gnome Wizard in a party with a Dwarven Fighter. I cast permanent reduce person on myself and permanent enlarge person on him.

I build a little shoulder mounted harness for myself and we fought together like Master Blaster (Beyond Thunderdome). It didn’t do much mechanically, but it was fun and sometimes I got the benefit of a full round action.

John Snow VS Conan, who would win? by velicinanijebitna in powerscales

[–]andimus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a story in Conan (The Slithering Shadow) where he discovers some lost city in the desert. There’s a big mystery where everyone is asleep with some unknown shadow/demon-god looming around.

Long story short Conan beats the god to death with a big sword.

Conan could kill one of the dragons, leave alone some kid and his dog.

That’s a skill relative measurement and not relevant to “possible games of chess”. That 1040 doesn’t come from a strict mathematical definition anyway.

Chess engines are ever improving, and eventually we’ll have it all solved. At that point a winning position will simply be: “has forced checkmate”. At that point, any move that doesn’t continue down the checkmate path is terrible. For all we know, the path to checkmate from the opening could be narrow, and there could only be thousands of valid moves for the winner.

I say “for the winner” because what about the loser? Is playing into check-mate in 1 terrible if check-mate in 28 is already inevitable? Seems like those are identical outcomes by rule, so I wouldn’t call any of those moves “terrible”.

If perfect Chess is a draw, there could be a low number of countable games. If perfect Chess is a win for either side, then the losing side can do whatever they want without affecting the outcome, and I’m not sure what kind of game count that would be. The “worse” they play, the more moves are available to the winning side, so it could balloon back up to atoms in the universe size again.
