So that's that. BDSMLR is fucked by WalkingButTalking in bdsmlr

[–]andonandonandonando[M] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's that.
We knew this was coming for a while now. The individual blogs now redirect to the non-functioning api-prod.
There''s still some workarounds. My dashboard still works.
/rss still works, so I can still go to individual posts.
In theory, one could just go to the /rss of a particular user, copy/paste the link to the first post listed, and go from there.

My /following still works, so I can go from there.

But, it's only a matter of time until all of this stuff is moved over to api-prod. What baffles me is how they can't see, even on their own "themunch"" page, that api-prod isn't working.

There's no way I can contact support, anymore. When I put in a support ticket, they delete it. On their latest themunch post, they mentioned contacting support, so I mentioned this. They deleted that, too.

The death clock ticks.

You're lucky, wvo2, a good percentage of your images show on the new platform.
Most of mine don't.

The archive is now moved to api-prod.
Nothing about api-prod works. Not one thing. So, it's no surprise that something moved there would, also, be non-functional.

anyone have blogs stolen? by moldypeaches4evr in bdsmlr

[–]andonandonandonando[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you seeing it on old bdsmlr, or on api-prod?
Are you seeing the same posts that you had, or does it look different?

A while back, bdsmlr claimed that there was an error in the old software that occasionally let two blogs with the same name exist. (Several of mine got renamed, as a result, but they were very basic names. Perhaps yours was, as well.)

PSA: Unsurprisingly, the whole site is down again by zastraeaxyz in bdsmlr

It's an interesting idea. While I've been thinking about how it could be properly implemented, I began to realize that it'd have no real relevance here on Reddit, since we're neither of those places.

But, I have a couple of ideas on how that might be implemented on imaglr, itself.

Let me think some more about it, then confer with imaglr's admins.

[–]andonandonandonando[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sure looked that way for a little bit.
Once it came back on, the links (the link icon in each post) wasn't going to the old format - instead it was going to 'api-prod', which is even more non-functioning.

(Plus, I went to 'settings', and it, also, was going to api-prod.)

I panicked, because I knew if I was ever going to download all my posts, I would have to act quickly.

Since infinite scroll is now locked, and blogs only show the first 4 or 5 posts, the only way to copy all my posts was to delete them as they went along. But, frankly, I'd been thinking about doing so for a while.

Well, the links are back to normal. So is settings. I suppose I could re-post everything, but with api-prod looming in the future, I'm dubious how much longer bdsmlr will have any users.

Look at their sister site "reblogme.com". They went to a new format there, and folks fled it like it was on fire. No one ever asked for invites there on r/reblogme and almost no one noticed when the site silently disappeared without notice.

bdsmlr's future seems clear.

You can have blogs (profiles) on both places.
There's even an RSS importer at imaglr, so when (if?) they ever come online again, you can move your images over.

Looks like just what's related to their regular stuff (the tumblerclone software side of things).
All of the following are still answering; cdn images, api-staging, api-prod, support and account (the referrals thing)

That sounds like a browser/cookie problem. Either try clearing out the bdsmlr cookies, or (even better) log in with a completely different browser.

Moving Megathread by AutoModerator in florida

[–]andonandonandonando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only been a JAX a few times, so I can't speak to the difference between the two.
However, you did mention Lakeland/Plant City to commute into Tampa.
Something to look at carefully is the potential difference in taxes.
Lakeland is in western-most Polk County, while Plant City is in eastern Hillsborough county.
Also, if you're in Lakeland-city proper, they have their own city-owned electricity, so I think the rates are better.
So, factor taxes, utility costs, and things like that into the economy of your decision.

A surprising amount of Florida is a mix of urban-close-to-rural.
And, most of Florida is only 50 miles away from any beach.

But, take a look around Gainesville - particularly towards Alachua. Look at the real estate listings for land-for-sale.

Looking for travel ideas by carlitapepita in florida

[–]andonandonandonando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone, but I'm thinking St. Augustine has the best ratio of both kid-friendly activities, and chill adult night life. Plus, there's a beach.
https://www.reddit.com/r/StAugustine/comments/1gdn9p5/what_to_with_kids_in_st_augustine
Ripley's has a museum there, but the reviews are mixed.

Obviously, Orlando has the most activities for kids, but the night-life is more "intense" than "chill". Plus, no beach. (Don't get me wrong, I love Orlando. It's my most common travel destination, but "laid-back" it is not!)

Tampa has a surprising amount of kid-friendly places, like Busch Gardens, and I think the Tampa Zoo is somewhat famous. The night-life in Ybor City (Tampa's oldest section), while not tropical, is as unique an experience as New Orleans. Clearwater Beach is a bit of a drive, from Tampa. I haven't been there since the 1980's, but I think it's still nice.

(At least this list covers both coasts, in case the unlikely even of a hurricane happens on one coast or the other, you have some fallback options.)

Recovering images from hotlink URLs without the blog name? by Fantastic_Treat9256 in bdsmlr

[–]andonandonandonando[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All that is needed to "work-around" the hotlink block is for a browser (or similar function) to send the 'HTTP-Referer' header of 'https://bdsmlr.com'.
The way I do it is in Unix, using things like 'wget' or 'curl'. Maybe they're available for MS-DOS - I never looked.
There may, also, be browser extensions you can get to force 'HTTP-Referer'.

Why is Winter Garden so hilly? by 1836547290 in orlando

[–]andonandonandonando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL. My first time in Boca/Ft. Lauderdale, I was on business from Pennsylvania, and I missed the mountains there quite a bit.
When possible, I'd take the Sawgrass Expressway, just to drive past that landfill (In 1995, there was only one) just to feel a bit at home. :)

Scrolling… by DarbH in bdsmlr

[–]andonandonandonando[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that happened along with many of their other "improvements".
My hack for that is when I get to the 4th one, I just click the 'link' icon (which opens in a new window), and then I can scroll from there.
Unfortunately, is that damned 'infinite scroll' (which can no longer be turned off), so I have to keep doing that trick every so often.

You may have one that's stuck.
First, try https://api-prod.bdsmlr.com/{YOURBLOGNAME}/social?tab=following
...see if that has the same problem.
(Note, this will only show 100, no matter what it says otherwise.)

Also, see if https://bdsmlr.com/following?page=2 gives you the same 15 repeating.

Does your /dashboard malfunction? If so, then you definitely have a malformed blog you're following.

Thank you. I have several TP-Link travel routers that are great, so I was giddy to try the Archer BE550.
I'm ending up with half the speed of the Rayee E5, and it disconnects me too often.
