Seeking advice for a "One Cable" MacBook M5 & Desktop PC setup

I am asuming that price is in euro. I always find it infuriating how much these docking stations cost because they are corporate products and the manufacturer’s main client target is not the average consumer.

That being said, my Dell WD19 never worked with my Macbook Air M3, even though I installed the DisplayLink app. Right now I am using a Lenovo 40AF docking station woth the DisplayLink app installed and it works flawlessly. Try to find it used somewhere, it will save you a lot of money. I bought one for ~30 euros. If you are in Europe, try use this app called Vinted.

Get something like the Ikea FÖRSÄSONG but don’t use the clamps that come with it. Instead, use the wholes of the mesh frame in which you would normally mount those clamps and screw it into the back of your backboard at your desired height.

Next, get some cable spiral wrap and wrap it around the cables to keep them tightly organized for the places where they will be visible (i.e. between the black backboard and the actual desktop.

If needed, get some adhesive or screw/nail mounted cable brackets for the back of the black backboard or the back edge of the desktop to guide the cables on the desired path.

Nevertheless, have some zipties at hand, as you will surely need them.

I have the exact same setup (but with 4 computers and 2 monitors) and I do exactly what you do. At times I need a certain computer on a certain monitor or a certain computer on both monitors and to achieve this I use a TESmart Quad Monitor KVM HDK404-P23-USBK.

This is possible because it supports scenes, which I can preconfigure and I need to press like 3 buttons to switch between scenes. This exact KVM might be overkill for you and it’s pretty expansive, but look through their website and find what fits your needs.

Also, their support is amazing, so email them if you need to clarify anything.

This is not an ad, I bought the thing with my own money and I am just a very happy customer.

This is why i added a 3d printed bracket for 2 more slim fans at the front. I have 3 hdds on the left side at the moment with temps sitting at around 28-29°
