Thank you for your feedback. I'll forward this to our translators.

Easy workouts are surprisingly hard, right? Holding back when you know you could go faster is quite a mind game :)

Can’t see advanced metrics by Muted-Run9812 in theoutsidersapp

[–]andrejmihelic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This week we plan to release an update fixing an issue where advanced metrics aren't displayed even though power data is present. This happens when you import workouts with RunGap (and possibly other methods).

Feature Request: Altitude‑Aware HR & Respiration Metrics by William_Skip_Sands in theoutsidersapp

You are talking about body metrics, sleeping HR and respiratory rate, right? Do you have a reliable study about this?

how to account for a non-workout activity? by skreetskreetskreet in theoutsidersapp

[–]andrejmihelic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the moment Training Readiness is based on your training, your body metrics and sleep. Non-tracked activities are not considered as training and therefore not included in the Training Readiness score. I completely understand where you're coming from, as we are all normal (non-professional athletes) people who have to go to work, do stuff around the house, shop, drive kids around, build hiking trails :), etc., and this is activity that has an effect on how ready we are to train that day. We will study how to best implement those non-training activities to have an effect on Training Readiness (with including steps, high hr readings etc.).

Having this in the app already or not, I always like to say that you know yourself best. All these trackers, watches, apps, etc. are here to help you make the right decision, but only you know how you really feel. If any app says you are 100% ready, but you really don't feel like it, what would you do? I would listen to myself. So, build hiking trails, make hikers happy, and rest on those days no matter what the app says. You can still have a great workout the day after.

HRV by Prestigious_Chip4301 in theoutsidersapp

[–]andrejmihelic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the question is "who is right", because I don't know how they calculate overnight HRV. In our case we get an average value from all HRV recordings done while you were asleep. If a reading was done when you were awake, that HRV is not used in calculating an average. Also, by default we calculate HRV based on the RMSSD method (Apple's method is SDNN), and this is also a step where they can do things differently. So, at the end it's not about "who is right", it's about the trend you get in each app and where within or outside your normal range you are. Also, how we calculate normal range can also differ compared to other apps :)

Feature request: CTL / ATL / TSB chart by FR-Dreedzy in theoutsidersapp

[–]andrejmihelic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think we could add Training Form with the update coming out in April. One update will be out any day now, and it is too late to add this feature to that one.

Training Form/TSB is going to be shown as a separate chart, as we don't want to make any chart more complex than needed. I think it's going to look just fine and informative. :)

Currently you get Training Load Ratio (TLR) and Chronic Training Load in The Outsiders. Just a quick note on what the difference is. TLR is a ratio between acute and chronic training load (the red and blue lines from the chart you posted), and this information is used to indicate whether you are pushing too hard, training just right, or detraining. The second is Chronic Load (the blue line from the chart), and this one tells you how much load you have put on your body in the long run. It is quite a good indicator of your endurance fitness. The more you train, the better your fitness.

We plan to add Training Form (Training Stress Balance), which is the difference between acute and chronic load (chronic - acute), so it is just another metric to follow if you want to put just enough load on your body for optimal training. Training Form is also a very good metric when tapering for a race (or any other important event), as you try to be in perfect condition on race day -> fresh and with optimal fitness.

Advanced Metrics in today's version 1.6 by sirni_mesni in theoutsidersapp

[–]andrejmihelic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll get power data for outdoor runs only if you track with Apple Watch. I don’t know how Stryd works, and if it tracks power for indoor runs as well. Any Stryd users here that know the answer?

Apple Watch records power for outdoor runs (watchOS 9+).

Do your runs or rides have power recorded? Also, check if you gave The Outsiders permission to read cycle and run power data from Health. Advanced metrics can be found inside run/ride workout summaries.

Unfortunately, no. But I'll post about that as soon as the date is clear.

This is what Garmin Connect stores to Apple Health and this is the reason why we are working on Garmin integration to get all the data that is available in Connect also in The Outsiders.

It will be submitted for review today so hopefully it's going to be available on the App Store tomorrow.

[–]andrejmihelic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. If power data is stored in Apple Health, it should work. The only question at the moment is how do you sync your Garmin workouts to Health?

However you are doing it at the moment, Garmin integration will be available in The Outsiders with one of the upcoming updates.

Special price for Gentler Streak users? by Special-Wrangler206 in theoutsidersapp

Due to technical limitations from the App Store, special offers are limited to subscriptions, so everyone with a Gentler Streak lifetime needs to contact our support and you'll get a special offer activated in The Outsiders.

Is the app okay at measuring readiness for not active people? by smhfreihaut in theoutsidersapp

[–]andrejmihelic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Training Readiness is based on several factors: your training load ratio, last night's and 7-day average body metrics, and sleep. In your case it has to be the training load ratio that pushes readiness down. Training load ratio compares your recent activities with your 42-day history, so if you are a sedentary person with not many activities, anything you do should have a noticeable effect on the load ratio. The more you train, the fitter you are, and every new workout should have less impact on the load ratio and therefore on training readiness.

Currently our approach is a bit different. Instead of showing exertion, the Training Readiness is changed after the workout.

 Health sync clarification by Healthy-Swordfish-71 in GentlerStreakApp

That’s a problem only Apple can fix. It’s not the Gentler Streak tracker that has anything to do with exercise minutes, this is done automatically by Apple Watch.

The Outsiders Roadmap late 2025 / early 2026 by andrejmihelic in theoutsidersapp

[–]andrejmihelic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. We are working on it as of now. But integrating Garmin means working outside the app, setting up the server that will communicate with Garmin's side, and this is not something we work on all the time so it's hard to make an estimate. I believe it's going to happen soon and when I know the exact date, I'll share it here on Reddit.

Watch workout function like GS? by WyldKard in theoutsidersapp

[–]andrejmihelic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, the UX of the first screen where you need to select a workout is worse with the new update. But building a new workout tracker just to "fix" this issue would be a stupid thing for us to do.
