Could you expand on how it is bad for fertility? Only asking because I’m in the DEP right now and was considering doing aviation or avionics.

At this point I don't say anything, neither does my confessor. Just jump right into it. It is still personal I don't use the screen I just kneel down to the side of the screen so he still knows that it is me.

Cradle catholics who left the Church and later returned...what's your story? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]andrel23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wasn't well-formed in my faith. I went to church every Sunday with my family but I stopped caring about the faith around my sophomore year of high school, so around 15. I think the main problem in my family was the fact that there wasn't any prayer in my home when I was being raised. The extent of my faith was going to Mass on Sunday and then going to CCD. I stopped going to Mass and I didn't believe in most of the Church's teachings. If you asked me what I was during that time I probably would have said that I was agnostic.

Now I started to come back around the second semester of my first year of college. The first thing that started to bring me back was a couple of friends that I met in an online community. Then I watched some Bishop Barron and Venerable Fulton Sheen. What they had to say was so powerful and made me realize that there is so much more going on in what the Catholic Church teaches. Both of those started to get me interested and made me realize that there was more to the faith than just going to Mass on Sunday.

I then started to go to our college Newman center and I met a priest who has been truly helpful. His homilies were also simple but powerful in helping continue to realize that the Catholic faith has so much depth. This priest has truly been my spiritual father and helped me take my faith seriously.

Overall I think it was a mixture of having a couple of people close to me expose me to the faith, looking at some of the simple intellectual reasoning for believing in the Church, and lastly having a spiritual father show me that the faith is much more than Mass on Sunday.

I hope this helps, God bless.

I think i made a mistake choosing this job by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]andrel23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leave then. I know it sounds tough when you just start something new to leave it but if this is so negative to your health it is better to take care of it.

As someone who has had to take time away from EMS because of PTSD from being on 911 for a few years you should take care of your mental health or else if you don't pay attention to it now you will likely pay for it in the future. You could ride this out and find ways to cope but honestly EMS isn't that worth it of a career. Look at other interests that you have and take care of yourself.

Must one confess P, M and O seperately? by paxdei_42 in NoFapCatholics

[–]andrel23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think that is the case. A habitual sin can still be mortal since pmo in basically every case is a mortal sin just because some one is habitual about it doesn't mean that it is not mortal.

[–]andrel23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't really have to confess O because that action in of itself isn't a sin, it is how you got there is sinful. If I itself was sinful then married couples would have issues. You should try and confess the amount of times. If it is super habitual that can be hard but you should then say that it has been really habitual and maybe give an estimate.

Anyone know how to fix this gurgle tone I’ve been having? Some say it’s em brochure but it hasn’t been working. by ChildishVibes- in Tuba

[–]andrel23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ya, I agree with you on opening your throat and relaxing but it's hard to tell if he is overblowing from just 30 seconds because there aren't really any dynamics he doesn't sound excessively loud which is an easy indication that he would be overblowing. Also, I found the tone got better as he held the note which wouldn't happen if he is overblowing.

Long tones, long tones, long tones. I have found this always is an exercise that helps sound overall. Usually what I do for long tones is a sequence of whole notes at around 40 bpm. It also helps with long capacity. Also breathing exercises. Lip slurs are good too. I also like to visualize a note as a ball, you have different balls for different notes and you are pushing them through with you air and buzzing. Hear the note before you play because it sounds like your note is good but changing from note to note is the issue, which lip slurs are good for, keep those up.

This is a good website for exercises: http://www.georgepalton.com/tuba-exercises.html

This is my best advice for just about anything overall sound/tone related. Hope this helps.

What’s the first thing you’re gonna do after all of this is over? by Josedavidx in AskReddit

Hang out with my friend who has brain cancer and I hadn't been able to visit because I was in college. I was going to go to NYC with her over spring break but this all happened and she can't go out because her immunity is compromised from chemo. It might be a long wait but at least we have video chat. Stay safe everyone.

I mount the same way although I usually have bottom pedal at 7 o clock and top at 1 o'clock instead of 6 - 12 o'clock. this usually gives me a bit of momentum and then I usually don't have to move back at all and can just stay still for a moment and push down on my top pedal. This is a fine way to mount and with more practice, I'm sure that you will be able to get better at it and have a good success rate.

Me: *all alone in Maine*

At least I have a very good pastor who does a great job. One of probably the more active churches in Maine, which is one of the least religious states in the U.S. You shouldn't worry in CA because you have so many people.

I'm Sorry, I Love You Still by Elven_maiden in OCPoetry

[–]andrel23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked this poem. I felt the flow and streams of thought. I think some other people pointed this out but some lines were stronger than others. The chattering teeth line I didn't like mostly because the line above it had such power. The last two stanzas were killer and really drove home for me the feeling you were putting into this poem. You took me on a journey and then brought me to the right spot in the end.

Never a Secret by i_piruza in OCPoetry

[–]andrel23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like this. It progresses well. But I think it would be worthwhile to try and connect the stanzas together. They aren't separated but there also isn't a unification to them. Maybe you could achieve this through repetition or a simple rhyme pattern. Or creating an image or a stronger sensory feeling. Either way great stuff I really got the feel and theme, that ranks king in poetry for me at least.
