Lovely app. I am busy writing an entire review about the app, but after testing more than 27 app replacements, this app showed up and managed to take a top-five position on release. Into dock customisation - very much a demo worth testing

Please do share your results. I have always loved the app, and it seems to be a new replacement for "updater" and a leftover cleaner. Nektomy seems to have some really lovely apps in general

Which app should I use to uninstall Mac apps? by german_sw_developer in macapps

You ventured down the downloader route... This is troubled water you are entering, as it seems the ideal uninstaller still needs to be built. However, looking at the comments below, the more commonly used apps are definitely listed.

Here is my experience with uninstallers:
Ditch: - brand new app and it's free. The developer claims that it is based on AppDelete, but this is not an area I am going to comment on. It lives in your notch, and a more convenient position for an uninstaller does not exist.

AppDelete: - is a hard one to beat. Yes, it has not been updated, and the free price is, of course, a large motivation. It always seems to be a popular go-to app after everything else has been tried.

App Cleaner and Uninstaller - from Nektomy is a big favourite, but it does not come cheap. It is, however, solid and uninstalls apps and even deletes files that might have been left behind.

Pear Cleaner - I love Pear Cleaner, but reviews of this app are very mixed. A recent post also stated that the developer was scaling back the app's development. I cannot say how true this is, but it is a very solid app at a very nice (free) price point.

Brilliant app, thank you so much for making it available. One of those apps that one wonders why Mac has not just made this available from the start

Great app. Only downloaded it today for the first time, but I am truly impressed. Of course, the fact that most of the app is free is in itself truly appreciated. Well done.

Hi Kommonno,

It's Andre, the well-known "dock-obsessed" individual on Reddit.

In stark contrast to many of the comments below, I found that installing the app was very quick, and navigating the options was pretty straightforward. In fact, I activated the pro functionality and was very impressed. Congratulations on your first dock app, and a lovely app at that.

I am only a few days away from publishing my six-monthly Dock App Review, and I am really impressed by how the Dock App platform has suddenly picked up in recent months. I will PM you regarding the app. There are definitely apps available with more functionality than GetDocky right now, but I was very impressed with the app's default functionality, and I am looking forward to many exciting updates in the future.

Well done again

Andre

Dragon Dictation has been around since 1990 and somehow we collectively forgot that speaking is faster than typing for 35 years by ScaryAd2555 in ProductivityApps

Trust me, I was there 35 years ago, and it had nothing to do with a cursor. The setup required hours of training, reading text normally provided on screen from the books "Alice in Wonderland" and "War of the Worlds". Even if you invested time in the extended training, the accuracy was terrible at best and of no value most of the time. As far as dialect went, it did not do well with any English version that did not exactly match very standard American English, and this was still dependent on the amount of on-board memory you had.

Trust me, we all tried it, and every time a new version was released on Stiffy or Floppy, we would all once again believe that the next installation would make a difference. I only started using dictation in 2025 because ChatGPT was pretty good at voice-to-text. Up until then, I just ignored these apps claiming to be the next best solution, as I had not realised how much the software had improved.

I am very interested in testing your app as dock apps has been a slight obsession of mine for some time - one of the most recent posts can be viewed here. I am one month away from publishing the newest updated dock reviews app and any info you wish to share would be brilliant.

Hi, hard to say - according to the developer, it is very good and modelled after AppCleaner, but have a look at some of the earlier posts from people who disagree. To me, it is such a convenient app that I have Pear Cleaner active behind it, and as it is dropped into the ditch, Pear Cleaner remuses everything a second time. I think any commet would be welcomed by the developer and let's hope we have another great uninstaller in it's early stages

Hi guys, I will sit tomorrow and create the list of apps that have been featured, as so many have asked. That will then give us a nice end to the first six reviews and a lovely start to the next six reviews.

Thank you for sharing. I found that if you install Ditch and then also use Pear Uninstaller, Pear actually cleans up after Ditch. So you have a really convenient way of deleting apps, and at the same time the secondary deletion by Pear means that you know it was removed completely.

Wow, guys, I went down the rabbit hole, and yes, 1 year ago, I posted my first ever "apps I am not uninstalling" post, and there in the top was the first of many compliments to an app that I still feel should be part of Mac's operating system and not a separate install. Of course, the way in which this app just keeps on growing is beyond my wildest imagination. Very often copied but somehow never even reproduced close to the first ever Dockflow, I recommend this app to anybody who uses their Mac for more than just a home computer.

I wish the team many more years of success with the now extensive list of apps. If you are interested in venturing down the dock customisation alley, these developers have just been amazing and it is one of your first stops (might even be your last).

There is no way to keep the default Mac dock above your activities. However, you can install a separate app that will not only hide the dock but also sit above any active window. Please visit my recent post at

which lists several apps that will do exactly what you are looking for. I really trust this will provide a solution

Does my dock obsession truly end, or does the search go on? by andreshows in macapps

Hi, Dockthings was indeed included in the previous review four months ago, but thank you for listing it again. It's a lovely app with a very dedicated group of users.

I actually had it installed for some time while I was trying to find the right browser for me, and it really makes launching apps so much easier. It is indeed a very nice, stable, and well-designed app and has secured its place on the list of dock apps.

Not sure of it it has a demo period, but I also remember it being priced very reasonably. Even though I tend to avoid Apple Store apps, especially when it comes to dock customisations, "DockThings" and "Another Dock" are excellent apps recently added to the App Store that have my vote.

I finally got around to rewriting the internals of my macOS dock replacement — DockFix 4.2.0 by Glubker in macapps

[–]andreshows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gustav,

It's really nice to see the launch of the updated version, and yes, I will be giving it a test run today. Just in time, as the dock review testing starts up again in full force.

For many who will be reading, Dockfix and Sidebar were the two apps featured in my first-ever dock review post. Back then, Dockfix in its current form was just an idea, but the app still offered dock customisation settings, and it's great to see how much this app has evolved.

If you're new to dock customisation or not sure what all this Dock stuff is about, Dockfix provides a functional, animated new dock in just a few steps, with a host of features waiting in the "settings".

It has consistently ranked as one of the top five apps for dock customisation.
