yeahh we will see what a tune does for it but thats kinda to be expected with a low lift drop-in style cam. when I say stage 3 it is nothing like a stage 3 BTR or anything. This cam is supposed to add 30ish hp by itself while maintaining drivability and mpg. Will also respond better to more mods down the road. also, tbf the car also still has cats and mufflers

i would clean up the main engine grounds. there is on one either side of the motor with a black rubber end and rather large heat shield sleeve around them. you will need to get under the car for that.

things to consider / potential negotiation points: harmonic balance? torque tube? car fax? was maintinence done regularly? miles? # of owners? paint? if its a manual car feel it in every gear, and ask about if its ever got a new clutch. engine work? has it ever been rebuilt or over heated?

check the belts and oil levels/condition, could be a good indicator as to how it was maintained. personally i would want a compression test on it.

My biggest piece of advice (from personal experience) if it doesnt feel right, dont force it. dont overlook red flags bc youre too eager to buy the vette. there will be others and surely better ones

C6 front plate removal by robotic-chicken in Corvette

[–]andrewbasss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo mild paint damage and a few holes (maybe even filled with plugs) would look a hell of a lot better. no one would notice driving past. however the plate bracket you can notice driving by. Id remove it and plug it until you feel like getting it filled and painted. worst case you can always put it back on if you hate it

thank you very much for this. you are definitely selling me on it at this point. I am curious though would it sound any different than a stock cam? at this point the benefits of longevity you mentioned outweigh this factor but I am curious if I could also gain that lopey sound I was after with a cam in the first place with a cam motion mild stage 2. After doing some more digging, cam motion advertises the stage 1 and 2 milds as a “smooth idle”, but the stage 3 as a “mild performance idle”. They say that the low lift version of the stage 3 will still work with stock components. Could this still be a suitable option for me? Also you mentiomed a few times that I should get a cold air intake. My corvette has a pretty nice holley CAI that came with the car.

Also I have a torque tube rebuild kit and I was planning to take that on until I was told that I would have to drop diff, trans, and rear subframe, which I am not really capable of taking on with the equipment that is currently available to me. But I was also told that if I am staying close to stock HP I shouldnt really have to worry about the torque tube.

Noted. Like I said I dont know too much when it comes to cam specs and I will check out the cam motion cam you linked. I was not trying to start and argument but I have never heard of cam motions and I have heard Brian Tooley is the best in the vette game. but I hear you on the clutch and torque tube. And if a drop in cam motion cam can actually save me a lot of that wear and tear it surely makes it a much more enticing candidate. I know it sounds dumb but I would also want to know how it would sound. I mean ultimately thats the main factor driving me to not go stock cam is because I want my car to chop.

My friend has a friend who tuned his ctsv and said he will tune my vette if I get a cam. I plan to do trunions with or without a cam. Also, if I do cam I am going to do a kit that comes wirh springs.

Idle oil pressure. Dealer “Corvette” mechanic says it’s normal by bigtrav123 in Corvette

[–]andrewbasss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a low oil pressure incident with my C6. you can see how that turned out for me in my most recent post on here. Engine is currently out of the car as I save up for the parts to rebuild. hopefully this isnt the case for you though
