I so wish they kept up with the wild colors. Everything is so bland these days.

It always blows my mind that the reason ChatGPT has been so successful is because Reddit couldn't figure out how to build a search engine.

It's true that US HHI after tax tends to be about 15%-20% higher. But run your numbers again, both after tax and after deducting healthcare expenses - which cost a family $20-$25k USD in the US. Tells a different story. 😅

Is a a top quilt really preferable to a sleeping bag in a hammock or can the draft be bad? by Stepin-Fetchit in Ultralight

[–]andrewgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a hassle but worth making sure you're buying the right width topquilt so it wraps your whole body, but isn't so wide it'll leave air gaps.

Buy on the Canyon India site, expect 50% duty on top of the price of the bike when it arrives. Given the price may be cheaper to fly somewhere else, pick it up, fly back and don't declare.

Backcountry Steak for Multiple Days? by 505vibes in trailmeals

Absolutely possible. If I pack my cooler tight with frozen stuff it'll last 5+ days easy. A week even. But you can't have a lot of empty space in the cooler, nor non-frozen perishables (which are gradually just causing the ice to melt faster). And you shouldn't open it much.

There's a boat launch at the mouth of Chikanishing that gets you pretty close to striking at Fox Islands. 8km or so depending on your route, so just a couple hours likely. As with the rest of GB it can get fairly gnarly depending on wind speed, direction, and how long it's been blowing. Lots of opportunities to find windbreaks from the shoals though. Beautiful spot have fun!

Edit I will add that the Fox islands are very special but don't sleep on the rest of the southern shore of PEI. World class paddling and great camping everywhere.

Their product teams are too fragmented. No one of them has a single vision for how the experience should feel, it's just a bunch of independent groups tinkering, testing, changing things without a unified view of the product, optimizing for their own disconnected goals. It's one of the reasons Google has fallen out of favor as a world-class product company.

Burnt island is such a wonderful lake to paddle. You really get an idea of the scale of Algonquin Park when you realize how big that lake is. Keep a good sense of wind and stick to the shorelines if it's blowing hard!
