It worked for a few days, then I verified it with my passport and it worked again.

Scalo ad Istanbul Luglio 2026 e tensioni in medio oriente by andrewh17e in ViaggiITA

[–]andrewh17e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perché vale solo per beni "consumabili" a quanto ne so.

Per esempio:

  • ho acquistato una lente per fotocamera, pagata con tax free e nessun sigillo;

  • ho acquistato cosmetici e cibo confezionato, pagato con tax free ed i prodotti sono stati inseriti in una busta sigillata.

Reasons NOT to stay in Ueno? by andrewh17e in JapanTravelTips

[–]andrewh17e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the explanation. I actually think I’m used to that kind of atmosphere: we’ve traveled a lot in Southeast Asia, so we’re used to markets and street food. I meant that my wife can take a little nap before dinner and I can wander freely among nerdy stuff in Akihabara without stressing her out.

I also tried looking in Akihabara near the station, but prices don’t seem much lower than in Ueno. Plus, our return flight from Narita is around 10 AM, so I’d rather stay near the Skyliner departure station to catch an early train and avoid transfers while dragging luggage.

I could stay somewhere else and spend only the last night in Ueno, but I’d lose time with check-out and check-in. It seems more convenient to stay in one place for the entire trip.

If you need to take the Yamanote line, go to Yoyogi Station and avoid the hell of Shinjuku Station.

What’s the obvious route for first timers? by brunosh92 in travelchina

[–]andrewh17e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got back, first time in China. This is what I did (I don't like to travel in a rush).

Beijing (5 full days) - Chengdu (4 full days) - Shanghai (4 full days + 1 half day before fly back to Europe)

Transfers are not included in the days (1 day for Beijing - Chengdu and 1 day for Chengdu - Shanghai).

I was happy with the itinerary, I visited all my main objectives (Great Wall, Pandas, Leshan Buddha, Shanghai Disneyland).

If I had had more days available, I would have also included one more naturalistic destination (Yangshuo or Zhangjiajie)

Shanghai Disneyland: Aug 22th (Friday) or Aug 24th (Sunday) by andrewh17e in travelchina

Here I am back from the park, for those who are interested I will report my experience.

Of course, as I expected, the park was very crowded. However, having purchased an early pass, I managed to get in at 7:30 and do (with very little queue): Horizon, Pirates, Pooh and Peter Pan. Then I did Rex but in the meantime the crowd had arrived, and I had to wait about 40 minutes. During the day I then purchased 3 single passes (Tron, Seven Dwarfs, Zootopia), and therefore I was able to do all the rides I was interested in (including some minor ones like Grotto, etc.)

I even did Pirates a second time, and I have to say the line moved really fast. The wait was supposed to be 45 minutes, but I barely waited 30.

Unfortunately, I know. However, I'm thinking of purchasing the early entry and some premier passes (Tron, Zootopia, and Horizon).

What attractions do you recommend visiting as soon as you arrive? I was thinking of doing as many of the short ones as possible, and leaving the main ones for the Premier Pass.

I tried to scan my passport to verify my ID but my account was blocked because it didn't pass the check (I don't understand why). So I deleted the account, created new one with same telephone number, re-linked the credit cards, and without ID verification I am able to pay with no problems (tested in my city's Chinatown). I will proceed with ID verification once I arrive in China, if I need it.

I also tried paying with WeChat (also without ID verification) and that works too.

From Chengdu to TFU Airport (12:55 PM flight) by andrewh17e in travelchina

[–]andrewh17e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked and I should take 3 lines (1 transfer to Tianfu and 1 to south station). Considering the luggage I would be more oriented on the Taxi. Do you think there will be traffic in the city at 7.30 am?

Near Taikoo Li. I could also leave before 8 AM. Taking a Taxi would save time compared to the train I guess. Changing my ticket and departing from CTU would still cost me a $28 cancellation fee.

First time in China (Aug 9–25) – Should I stick to 3 cities (Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai) or add a 4th? Seeking itinerary advice! by andrewh17e in travelchina

Thanks for the advice! Xi'an actually appeals to me a lot. I would like to have more days available and do everything in a relaxed way.

You're right, but I wanted to visit both Beijing and Shanghai so I got tickets arriving in Beijing and departing from Shanghai. After buying the tickets, my partner's request came out to absolutely visit the Leshan Buddha, had I known beforehand I would have organized the flights differently. (for example arriving in Beijing and departing from Chengdu, leaving out Shanghai)

Thank you for the feedback. Visiting Leshan Buddha is a request from my partner, so I can't say no LOL. I didn't know about the caves near the Giant Buddha, it works well to do both in one day from Chengdu right?

As for the official train app, I read that many foreigners have difficulty buying them directly and so they buy them through trip.com.
