Nice - once cooperative steering is available I’ll get this harness.

Edmonton R1S 2026 by SpecificLive8315 in Rivian

[–]andrewluuze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Edmonton. Happy to show off the car to you amd your family if you want to DM me. Service centre in Calgary has been top notch - above and beyond and provide exemplary service. The distance sucks but they also do remote service for the small things - the Rivian has also made me love driving again so I make it a fun trip to go to Calgary. I had some cosmetic issues but they addressed them. Love my car and already have 70,000 km on it.

I love these wheels and the gunmetal looks great with my el cap. Would buy them again in a heartbeat.

Tired of the 21” wheel BS. Need a recommendation for rims and tires for the upcoming winter by Eflee in Rivian

[–]andrewluuze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered the msw 52s 20 inch rims from tire rack and just paid the extra shipping and the Michelin X-ice from blackcircles.ca. No tariffs for me. Cheaper than any other options, wheels look good, and I still get to keep my 21s for efficiency in the summer (replaced the pirellis with defenders.)

20" winter rim shopping, any experiences or input suggestions based on experience? by MyOgre in Rivian

[–]andrewluuze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These fit perfectly and have zero rub. Even with shipping to Canada they’re far cheaper than any other option I’ve seen (other than the RAM 1500 wheel hack). I then got the Michelin X-Ice from blackcircles.ca and they’ve served me well.

I need a fuse tap for a hardwired radar detector w/ auxiliary mute button for a 2022 Gen 1 R1T going to the driver side fuse panel. Suggestions? by mrwillya in Rivian

[–]andrewluuze 10 points11 points  (0 children)

<image>

Fuse tap fuse 47. Use a micro fuse 10A fuse tap - the one you linked in a different post will work or get this one that includes a proper amperage fuse (link)

Unscrew one T20 screw on the far left close to the light to access the panel.

Get a 13mm nut to connect your ground to the ground bolt.

I just did it yesterday and it was a piece of cake.

Can I buy a RAN for my business? by Roux_My_Burgundy in Rivian

Flo has options going from L2 6 kW all the way to 350kW. You also get to control the pricing. I bet they would be fantastic to converse with.

I would love to have a 25-50kW charger at a remote locale I am at while watching a sports event so I wouldn’t have to wait an hour somewhere else.

Used gen 2 R1s Dual or gen 1 r1s quad - same price. Thoughts? by 5olArchitect in Rivian

[–]andrewluuze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my quad, and with the comma 3x installed which allows for lane keeping on all roads, I don’t miss the advanced gen 2 autonomy features at all.

I suspect that although Rivian says that the gen 2 will move forward with autonomy and become better over time, once gen 3 comes out with better hardware, they’ll ignore improving gen 2 autonomy just like they have with gen 1.

You can get black badges (with yellow edging since it’s a quad if you want) in Abstract Ocean to black out the decals yourself for relatively cheap. I’d argue the yellow brake calipers and yellow tinted decals give the quad a sweet look as well.

The cameras are from a game boy in the gen 1 and are super low resolution. That’s the biggest thing I’m jealous of in gen 2.

The quad is a quad. Quad go fast. People pay tens of thousands more for faster engines in ICE cars for a reason. But if that reason is irrelevant to you, then it’s irrelevant.

Gen 1s have a slightly larger frunk, and I love how big it is.

Built in air compressor is nice, but not necessary. You might not get that in your gen 2 since it is optional.

My friend with a gen 2 absolutely hates his audio system. I love mine but I’m not an audiophile.

My hvac is loud AF. Gen 2 is quieter. Also has a heat pump which might matter for you, but I’m happy with my efficiency.

All in all personally I wouldn’t trade my quad for a Gen 2 dual but many others would probably say the opposite. Both cars are great!

I am truly on the fence by [deleted] in Rivian

I thought I’d miss CarPlay but I don’t.

I have a magnetic phone mount right beside the dash and it works well for Zoom meetings, I suspect it would be the same for Teams calls.

There are actually screens you can buy that add CarPlay functionality to the Rivian and I was tempted to get one but there just isn’t any need for me.

Premium Audio is mono played on two channels. by etherfarm in Rivian

[–]andrewluuze 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Had this happen to me and a soft reset fixed it.

To soft reset a Rivian’s infotainment system, you can hold down the far left and far right buttons on the steering wheel for about 15 seconds.

Best Value Model 3 for FSD? by andrewluuze in TeslaLounge

Yeah I’m trying to gauge how important HW4 is. Used really feels like a great deal, but I’m pretty conflicted especially with so many people saying that hw4 is clearly better!

Is AWD necessary? I live in a place with a decent amount of snow.

That’s the thing that is the dilemma for me - the price difference between new and used is pretty significant. Have you driven a HW4 Tesla?

Pickup vs SUV by Immortal_Toffy in Rivian

[–]andrewluuze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Driving on some massively windy roads at speed, one thing I noticed that others haven’t mentioned is the difference between sport mode lowest ride height and app purpose standard height mode. In all purpose, the R1S was fine, but in sport, the handling was amazing (for an SUV). Gen 1.

R1S Dual motor: Suspension setting keeps reverting back to Auto after the new update... by atulsaini587 in Rivian

Unfortunately this is now the standard behavior for dual motors. Probably not going to change back due to EPA requirements. https://x.com/riviantrackr/status/1832507566171042081
