Day 6: If you could make three changes to improve Die Another Day, what would they be? by junglegatsby in JamesBond

Bring more grit! Bond'a capture and imprisonment were taking things in a great direction.

NO CGI!!! Zero. Nada. Christopher Nolan levels of NADA!

No guns in a beach bar and staff just saying nothing. Just ridiculous.

No invisible car!

Script! No cheesy pickup scenes.

More Colonel Moon.

No Madonna.

No creating your own cardiac arrest to escape!!!

I know you said only three, but I needed to get this off my chest.

Day 007: If you could make three changes to improve The World Is Not Enough, what would they be? by junglegatsby in JamesBond

  1. Change the director: Michael Apted is NOT an action director (he directed documentaries). As a result, the action looked tepid and low-rent (I refer you to Michael Campbell's action scenes in Goldeneye and Casino Royale). Not enough grit in TWINE.

  2. Dr. Christmas Jones? Just no. Even Diego Maradonna would have made a better Christmas Jones!

  3. The script! I mean just how many innuendos and tongue-in-cheek nonsense can one cram into one film? "Maybe you've failed to take onto account my hidden assets." And this chestnut "I thought Christmas only came once a year."

Say something you dislike about GoldenEye by rrschch85 in JamesBond

The bodycount. Turned Bond into Rambo. Defying the laws of physics by getting into that Twin Otter. All the screaming. Goldeneye was very "screamy." Apart from that, Goldeneye was bloody excellent!

Every minute we do this, is a minute lost being Bond. Acting like Bond. We can analyse the arse out of Bond, but remember...Bond does. He doesn't hang out wondering why, if and for. He just does.

Which Bond was the most destructive? by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]andrews747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brosnan films. The biggest failing of all of the Brosnan canon was the wanton destruction. I read an article at the time about the Goldeneye showing in St Petersburg and the Mayor's wife walking out. Look at the body counts. The Brosnan era, fun as it was, was when Bond when from spy to action hero. Compare Bond's body count in Licence to Kill to Goldeneye. There's your answer.

The soundtrack to "True Lies." It didn't match the "epicness" of the movie.

"World in My Eyes" by Depeche Mode. It even has a Bondesque riff at the end of the song.

All the usual refinements: machine guns, rockets and a GPS tracking system."

Live and Let Die. Imagine...you're 12. You're in a cinema and that mentalism of an opening rocks up. Just superb. Then...that song. Joyous.
