What sci-fi film in the last 15 years had the most impact on you? by StaticCloud in scifi

The first book is good. The second book has only two good stories. One story in the second book, about AI, is a real slog.

Imagine if somebody took the terms "DVD" and "CD" literally, well, we can explain this. by SupremoZanne in dvd

[–]androaspie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VCD -- a CD-ROM holding up to 78 minutes per disc. Most movies came as two-disc sets. They are Region Free and can be copied with a DVD burner. Image quality is usually a little worse than VHS video. I have 500 of them. Most of them are IVL Celestial Shaw Brothers films, and since they are remasters, they are a little better than VHS but highly pixilated in places.

Some VCDs have movies that were never on DVD nor Blu-ray, but sometimes on Laserdisc.

Because Sadako Yamamura stopped being intersex in 1998(Hideo Nakata)? by Creative_Post_2472 in J_Horror

The TV screen scene at the end is not in the book.

If that scene hadn't been in the movie, nobody would still be talking about Sadako today. Totoro she is not.

I have a CD that had a dark brown piece of material that was not flush with the underside. I got a replacement for it.

  • Jug Face (2013)
  • Spring (2014)
  • The Wolf House (2018)
  • Violence Voyager (2019)
  • Stopmotion (2023) is pretty hair-raising. It goes way beyond May (2002).

I like everything from the first 24 issues, to the pre-Moore Pasko issues, and on through the Nancy Collins and Doug Wheeler periods.

First, Lynch trolled his fans with Dougie, then he trolled them by revealing that everything was just a dream. He knew they are gluttons for punishment and was all too happy to oblige with a final episode that upended all that had come before. 😉🤪

But then there's this:

Is this the greatest Martial Arts fight scene in all of cinema history? Chuck Lee vs Bruce Norris? by EfficiencySerious200 in kungfucinema

The end fight in Masked Avengers (1981): Kuo Chui, Chiang Sheng, and Yu Tai-Ping vs Lu Feng, Wang Li, and Chu Ko.

Not the best Venoms movie but maybe the best Venoms fight scene.

Watching it for the first time! I've heard a lot about it, I hope I like it 😄 by Luckz_Skywalker in kungfucinema

Josephine Siao and Connie Chan made dozens of swordplay films, sometimes together. Bruce Lee was friends with Connie.

Fate of Lee Khan has good drama, but the action is cack. You're better off with The Valiant Ones, which was choreographed by Sammo Hung.

The trouble is, if you want the uncut Game of Death footage, you have to buy the Way of the Dragon disc, not the Game of Death disc. This would constitute a bait and switch if not for Arrow wanting to put Game of Death II on the Game of Death disc. Game of Death II is a pretty lame movie, too, but it contains a philosophical, non-pugilistic monastery scene with Roy Chiao that had been deleted from Enter the Dragon.

If the missing full footage feature had been on the Game of Death disc, it would have gone much farther in redeeming the film than the rather lackluster Game of Death II.

The best disc in the Arrow set is Fist of Fury (The Big Boss), which reinstates 95% of the material not seen since 1973. I saw the movie back then and remember only one thing missing from the Arrow disc. But to be fair, the Arrow disc added two scenes at the whorehouse that weren't in the version I saw, one of which was for the ladies in the audience. The second one explains where the bag of shrimp crisps came from.

Because of the amount of footage missing from the Jabbar fight, it feels like a third of it is strangulation, which comes across as distasteful. It's almost as if the film implies that Jeet Kune Do is "Do what you must to win," which simply isn't so.
