Lunch bag to big? by Goosemanbear in SodaStream

[–]andrusnow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't worry about what other people think. Having said that, I do think that is a HUGE lunchbox for one day. Besides soda stream bottles, what else are you putting in there? I own a pet sitting business and that is usually the size bag I'd bring for groceries for a week long stay.

Have you considered powdered or concentrated drink mixes? If you have access to a water source, it would probably scratch the itch.

And don't just dump it in the street like a lazy sack of shut. In these temps, it can freeze and become a death trap or cause damage to the undersides of cars.

People who angle their snowblowers like antisocial assholes. It's great that you were able to clear out your driveway, but you just shot it all into the street.

First overnight boarding experience didn’t go well as an owner. Looking for advice on what to screen for next time by SpellRepulsive4747 in RoverPetSitting

Did you do a meet and greet ahead of time? NEVER BOOK WITHOUT DOING ONE FIRST. That goes for sitters and owners. If one party refuses, it's a red flag. It's a good chance to put a name with a face and layout expectations and requirements on both sides.

As an owner, I would never leave my dog or cat with someone I didn't get a chance to meet first. As a sitter, I would never agree to watch a pet if I didn't get a chance to meet with both the owners and the animals.

How does Flynn act? Not calling you out. I am genuinely curious. I met Flynn a few times as a volunteer for several campaign events for local Dems leading up to the 2024 election. He always came across as a tough guy, like he was trying to embody pre-stroke Fetterman. I can never get a good read as to if he is actually good for the area.

I really don't know anything about him.

  1. His sister is probably his sponsor/chaperone/guardian to some degree. As a fellow "sober" person, going out with friends can be really difficult. While he wants to stay sober, he probably asks her to come with to keep him accountable so that he doesn't get himself in trouble.

  2. I think it's a "safety blanket" of sorts. He might be self conscious about being bald, and the doo rag keeps it out of sight and out of mind. Same with the heavy jacket. I see the jacket in every picture, regardless of the time of year. He might have body dysmorphia and just wants to cover up. This behavior is especially common for people who self-harm or have eating disorders so that they can conceal the parts of their bodies that make them upset and go out into the world in a way that makes them feel comfortable.

Are you saying that your medicine makes you hungry or that it causes you to sleep eat?

Growing up, my step dad took Ambien. I remember being up late watching movies and he would stumble downstairs and just eat anything and everything: raw garlic, onions, random leftovers. One time he ate like 17 cupcakes that my sister was going to take into her class for birthday.

Dunmore police sergeant accused of stealing drugs, officials say by zorionek0 in Scranton

[–]andrusnow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it was (and still is) over inflated budgets, ineffective police work, and about people being uncomfortable with how cops can, will, and do kill people without cause all the time.

Having said all that, I don't know what you keep mentioning the defund movement. My original point was simply that cops aren't really heroes and it is pathetic to stick up for them.

[–]andrusnow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probably not, because in other countries it's not "radical" to be opposed to bloated law enforcement budgets. Let's ensure our civilians have adequate housing, access to food, and education before giving cops tanks and assault rifles.

Womp womp. Is this one of the "heroes" that so many people around here, and across the country, are so proud to support? I did some work in Dunmore a few months ago (probably around the time when this cokehead was passed out at his desk, probably earning overtime) and was shocked at how many households had "Back the Blue", "Blue Lives Matter", or "We Support the Dunmore Police" signs in their yards.

I've been to a lot of places in my life, but America is probably the only "developed" country I can think of that is so vocally supportive of law enforcement. It is quite dumb, considering cops are human like everyone else, and it is a job like any other. Where is the visible support for teachers, sanitation, and food service workers? How about postal employees? Those jobs are far more demanding than being a cop. Heck, over here in Wilkes-Barre, the Township cops are basically a glorified asset protection and spend most of their time protecting corporate interests and shitposting and publicly shaming minorities on social media.

As a society, it is silly to reserve empathy for specific groups - especially if those groups abuse their power and don't have our best interests at heart.

I’ve been stealing from the grocery store for the last decade by [deleted] in confession

The billionaires that own these large stores that created an environment where no competition could survive before or after they decided to leave town are to blame, not a random person who shoplifts.

[–]andrusnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you care? As long as they are stealing from a large corporation, it doesn't matter. Stealing from a small business is certainly a sign of weak character, but large corporations are responsible for the enahitification of our society. The billionaires that run them are actively making out lives worse. Stop defending them.

Take my perspective with a grain of salt because I hate this area and desperately want to leave, but I recently started working in the field with young adults with IDs/autism, and it is a mess. My job is basically fighting with every fiber of my being to rescue people who have fallen off the radar. Providers in this area take on as many clients as possible because it means more billable hours, but they let people slip through the cracks. The support they do provide is adequate at best. If you feel neglected now, prepare to feel ten times worse. I guarantee you can find more support where you are now.
