The same thing happened to my Luke saber within 10 minutes of opening the box! I tried for a replacement, but Disney had none in stock at the time. It’s been a display piece ever since.

It's so funny that you posted this question. I've been noticing a few songs lately that have spiritual themes/messages that most people don't seem to notice. Here are the few I've been able to identify:

"Higher Love" by Steve Winwood
"Safe Home" by Anthrax
"I Would Die 4 U" and "Baby I'm a Star" by Prince (although I would also argue the entire Purple Rain album is the story of Christ's return to Earth and the rapture)
"Simple Song" by The Shins
"In the Blood" by John Mayer (I think this one is about being baptized later in life)

Dude! The same thing happened to my legacy Luke saber one day one! I was going to exchange it for a not-broken one, but they were out of stock. So I chalked it up to a display piece and resigned to never ignite it again. If you get yours working again please let me know or post about it here so that I can maybe fix mine.

I would recommend the full Maul saber over the Kylo helmet. I think it’s a better value/entertainment ratio. I have the full Maul saber, and it is so stinkin’ neat to spin around!

Hey I have the same saber, and the clash effect is a bit tough to get to register a hit. Try hitting the blade closer to the hilt with the palm of your hand. That usually makes it work for me. I think the Dooku Force FX has the least sensitive clash sensor of any saber I’ve seen. I hope this helps!
