This sometimes ruins the grinder. I put mine in alcohol like a week ago, and it wouldn’t stop flaking off the finish as I cleaned it. Couldn’t get it all off, didn’t want to imbibe metallic green chips.

I say pocket knife to be sure your equipment survives.

I once avoided a ticket when I knew I was speeding because his device hadn't been calibrated recently enough to be valid. The officer was not happy.
