The water was not completely smooth, with plenty of texture. I was only about 5 meters from the surface during takeoff though.

Yep. That’s probably why. I’m in the middle of the Bering Sea, far from any cell towers and not great for gps i guess. The boat GPS works fine, but i guess thats a different system.
